Dog Parents--Barkbox?

Hi everyone who has a dog. Have you ever heard of something called "Barkbox?" I found out about it today and think it is a really neat idea and I'm thinking about doing it for our girl.

It is a subscription site where you get a box every month full of toys, goodies, treats, etc. for your dog. The things you get are not processed or nasty, but really nice. Part of the proceeds go to rescue shelters, which I love with my two rescue babies.

It is 18 dollars a month. What do you ladies think? Good deal or not?

Here's the link to the site: barkbox.com

There are also a ton of videos on youtube of people opening barkboxes if you want to see what comes in a box.

Re: Dog Parents--Barkbox?

  • To be honest I'm not sure I'd spend $18/month on toys/treats for my dog. I would give one month a try, though.

Their website references a Groupon deal, any idea if it's current? I would give a month a try.

  • That's how I've been feeling too. I didn't see the groupon deal. I'll have to check that out. I wish they had a month trial to give it a go...

  • I'm really picky about what I give my dogs plus one of my dogs has allergies so I would be really bummed if I spent the money and couldn't give him anything out of the box. I think it is a great idea but I envision just cheap toys and treats that might not be the greatest for dogs.

  • It seems like a really cute idea, but personally I'd rather take my pup to Petsmart (or someplace) and spend $18/month on toys & treats I KNOW she'd love.

  • I like the idea of this and I typically spend about $10-20 on treats and toys a week on our two labs (can you tell they are completely spoiled?), I'd just be concerned about the toys because my dogs chew them to shreds within minutes usually.  The treats I'd be concerned about quality and what types.  One one of the videos I watched they were mentioning some of the treats from the previous month had mold....??
  • I did see that! But apparentely the company fixed that situation. My babies are spoiled too...haha. I actually really like the quality of what they showed on the reviews. I only ever feed USA made treats with no by-products (my Lilly became very ill because of the waggin trails treats that have caused such press over the past year and I never looked back twice) and I try to support local/small companies which is what they focus on. I think I'm going to put it on a gift list for my B-day which is coming up and ask for someone to pay for a trial. I'll let you ladies know what I think if I go through with it.
