Paying bills is... fun??

Who would have thought that I would ever think it is exciting to pay bills?!? H and I have been really focusing on paying down our debts and so far we have paid off a student loan and my car! We are on track to pay off another student loan this month as well as H's credit card. It's exciting to watch the balance get lower and lower with each payment and I actually like figuring out ways we can save more so we have more money to put toward our debts. I guess they call this being an adult Big Smile

  • LOL- I remember being so excited when we paid off H's student loan last fall, I can totally relate to your post!  We still have one loan to pay off of H's to his parents, and then I graduate in May and will have a crap-load of debt from my PharmD, so it'll be awhile before we're debt-free :(  Congrats to you and your H for all your progress!

  • We're doing the same kind of thing with my loans. It is such a good feeling...
  • Congrats on your financial progress.  Think of how great it is going to feel to have everything paid off.  Awww...

H did a trade school and I paid for all of my undergrad and graduate schooling on my own without student loans for this exact reason.  I didn't want to graduate and start out in the world with all this debt, so I took a couple extra years in order to "afford" college.  It worked out for us, but it was not easy or fun.  Lots of nights of mac n chez!  I'm happy for the two of you getting this done.

  • Paying off bills is great! Best feeling in the world I think. We had all our bills paid off and then Christmas came and now I have a small bill on my credit card (stuff I bought from H and wanted to keep a secret.) So once that is paid off I think we will be debt free not including cars though.
  • It's the best feeling isn't it?

  • Paying bills everyday is kind of blah...but making that LAST payment is awesome!

H and I have a ridiculous amount of student loans like Gustie....dental school is very expensive and there is no way to have a job that pulls in any meaningful income while you are in school.  Serious, serious, serious student loan debt to the tune of half a mil.  And that's just SCHOOL loans.

So, once THAT gets paid off, H and I will be having a huge celebration =]
