To Sell or Not to Sell

DH and I have been married for 4 years.  Since the beginning of the year, we have been on a mission to free our home of clutter.  So several of the items that I pulled out of our closet that have not been used include wedding gifts.

Some of them were gifts from friends like a waffle maker and a casserole dish (we have crock pots that serve the same function) that are sort of no brainers to get rid of.  However, there are a few Lenox pieces that I was given at my shower that I'm undecided about.

One was from a good friend (but she gave me something else as well so it's not like I have nothing from her) and another was a bud vase from a former co-worker who I will most likely not see again (or at least not very often).  Should I get rid of these items?  Will I regret it later?  I know Lenox is good quality, but it's honestly not my style.  Should I just put it on ebay or amazon and make some cash or keep it for the sentimental value knowing that I don't have a ton of nice things like that?

Re: To Sell or Not to Sell

  • If the items aren't your style, you're not using them, and they don't have sentimental value (i.e. your grandma's family china), I can't imagine you will regret it later.  If you feel like you need some nicer things, use the proceeds from selling the excess clutter to start building a collection of nice items that you like and plan to use.

  • Personally I would keep the nicer (lenox) things even if they were not my style. Never know when you may need to use it down the road. If you really don't like them sell it all on eBay. I suggest buying similar items but in your style of those nice things.

For the kitchen stuff you have no use for, sell it and buy whatever you want. No same in that.

This. You can use the proceeds to buy things that you like that you will use. Don't let them sit there to collect dust when you can get some cash for them and declutter at the same time.
