Breast Pump and Insurance Update

After plowing through the list sent to me by Keystone/IBC, I found one provider that actually handles the breast pump orders, Sunmed.  They were extremely helpful and knowledgable of all of the time restrictions, procedures, etc.  They will even take care of talking to your insurance company for you to find out what your plan covers!  Their number is 800-714-7434.  Unfortunately, under my plan, a pump is only covered 50%, but it's still better than 0%. Evidently, pumps are covered under insurance now, but it all depends on your own insurance plan and how much they will cover. I hope this helps those of you who were looking for a vendor to deal with.

  • I think you should also be covered for lactation visits as well. So if any of the new or upcoming moms have issues and need to see a LC - check to see what your coverage includes. (Also make sure you're seeing an IBCLC).
