My DH & I are thinking of going to Costa Rica in June (end of June)...any tips, suggestions, thoughts, etc?! We've only traveled internationally to Mexico and Canada, and are looking to explore a little more this time!
Thanks!
Re: Costa Rica, anyone?!
How long are you planning on going for?
I traveled to Costa Rica about two years ago with my friend for eight days. We spent half our time in La Fortuna/Arenal and the other half on the Nicoya Peninsula in the beautiful beach town of Nosara. If you've got at least a week, I would split your time between a rain forest locale (i.e. La Fortuna/Arenal or Monteverde) and somewhere on the ocean (Manual Antonio is a popular choice, but you could also stay in the Nicoya Peninsula area). I've got two entries in my travel blog on the trip here: http://wanderlusttraveler.blogspot.com/search/label/Costa Rica

"You know you're in love when you don't want to fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams." - Dr. SeussDH and I went for two weeks in late Aug - early Sept 2012, fell in love with Costa Rica, can't wait to go back for more! Amazing natural beauty, wildlife, friendly people... We flew in and out of Liberia and visited 5 places: Rincon de la Vieja, Bijagua (close to Tenorio/Rio Celeste), Monteverde, Arenal, and Playa Hermosa. We found these to be great resources for itineraries, booking transportation, discounts and such: anywherecostarica.com and puravidaeh.com. Enjoy!
I lived in Panama for 2 years and have traveled extensively throughout Costa Rica.
I agree that you should spend part of your time at the beach (Quepos) and part of the time in the rain forest. I loved Nicoya Peninsula and Manuel Antonio. I also suggest spending a bit of time in San Jose. Fun city!
However, I am in love with Panama and would suggest it over Costa Rica any day.
