thoughts on the Grammy's?
Re: thoughts on the Grammy's?
I posted this on my facebook page last night, but how is it that LL Cool J does not age?? (and actually looks even better now than in that clip they showed of him on American Bandstand?)
I was so excited to see Justin Timberlake back on stage! Now that he has a new album coming out, let's hope he gets to host SNL again soon.
I didn't really get the opening show with Taylor Swift; what was up with the circus act? I thought it was very distracting.

I was entertained for the most part.
I don't understand how it rained on fun. and they didn't get electrocuted? I'm not a huge JT fan, but I did enjoy his performance. Of course, I liked the Maroon 5/Alicia Keyes performance. And Kelly Clarkson was great.
I thought it was weird that the Bruno Mars/Sting tribute to Bob Marley started with a Bruno Mars song.
Taylor Swift is annoying...I hated that they kept showing her all night singing along with all of the performances.
I really liked the performance by Rhianna (I don't really even like Rhianna) and I liked the Bruno Mars group performance and also the group performance with Zac Brown Band and also, Mumford and Sons were fun to watch.
Also, I have no idea who the Black Keys are.
Mumford and Sons a christian band? (not being snarky)
I sort of disagree here. While I admit I'm a fan of TSwift, I thought it was awesome that the "front row artists" were totally into all the other performances.
Amber---we said the same thing about fun. and the rain! At first, I thought it was just a visual effect thing, but then that lead singer was drenched!
Maria-I enjoyed the Rhianna song, but I dislike her so much that I wish someone else would have been singing it!

I liked the Alicia Keys/maroon 5 performance a lot. I'm not a Jack White fan, but I liked his performance as well.
I love the Grammys! I loved that the entire crowd was into the Lumineers.
I don't really watch any of the award shows anymore. I guess maybe that's a sign of getting older. LOL.
I did flip it on right before Maroon 5 came on with Alicia Keys, and then turned it off as soon as they announced Rihanna. I won't give her any ratings.
Oh and who the heck is Frank Ocean? I've never even heard of him before.
I wasn't familiar with his music (although I think he's written songs in the past for other artists) but I had read a few things about his personal life in the past few months (and I think it's because of that that he received a standing ovation when he won):
On July 4, 2012, Ocean published an open letter on his Tumblr blog recounting unrequited feelings he had for another young man when he was 19 years old, citing it as his first true love.[7] He used the blog to thank the man for his influence, and also thanked his mother and other friends, saying "I don't know what happens now, and that's alrite [sic]. I don't have any secrets I need kept anymore...I feel like a free man."[70] Members of the hip hop industry generally responded positively to the announcement.[71]Russell Simmons, a business magnate in the hip hop industry, wrote a congratulatory article in Global Grind saying "Today is a big day for hip-hop. It is a day that will define who we really are. How compassionate will we be? How loving can we be? How inclusive are we? [...] Your decision to go public about your sexual orientation gives hope and light to so many young people still living in fear."[72] Other artists who expressed their support included Beyonc? and Jay-Z.[73] Tyler, The Creator also tweeted his support for Ocean, along with other members of OFWGKTA.[74]
