Hello, Mama. Tell me about your swing + a few other questions.

Is a travel swing just as good as a full size? Do you use your swing pretty often? Do you think I can get away with one swing and one bouncer? (I'm having twins).

How many baby towels do you have/use?

Do you put socks on under a little outfit that has attached feet?

Thanks for your input :)

Re: Hello, Mama. Tell me about your swing + a few other questions.

  • 1. Audrey has used the swing a total of 4 times. Makes me glad we borrowed and didn't buy it. I would start with one of each thing. If you need to, you can always buy more later. (Or register for 2. If you receive 2, only open one until you see how the babies react to these items. If they don't really love 'em, return the other for credit, which will always come in handy.) I know nothing about a travel swing.

    2. We have 4 towels with little hoods and about 8 washcloths.

    3. Nope.

  • Is a travel swing just as good as a full size? Do you use your swing pretty often? Do you think I can get away with one swing and one bouncer? (I'm having twins). I guess we have the travel swing?  We have this one.  P likes it and falls asleep in it.  He's been in his bouncer once.  Not because he didn't like it, we just figured since he was okay in the swing, why change things up.  It's our go to place when we have to put him down somewhere when we're downstairs (we have the RNP upstairs).  We use it everyday.

How many baby towels do you have/use?  We had maybe 6, but since we use the PNP downstairs to change him, and we put a towel down on the little changing station in the PNP, we use a lot more than I thought we would.  We went out and bought 3 more.  So we have maybe 10.  Way more than I expected, but only bc of the changing station thing.

Do you put socks on under a little outfit that has attached feet?  We don't often use outfits with attached feet, but I would probably say no.

  • We have the snugabunny swing and S uses it every day. She often naps in it or just hangs out when I am trying to get something done. I don't know about the travel swing, but if it is a reclined/cradle type position I would think it would serve the same purpose. The only reason we didn't get a dual bouncer/swing was because my dog could get to her easily if it were low so I opted for the higher swing.

We have like 4-6 towels and have only ever used two of them. We have probably 20 washcloths and only use one at a time. I am considering using the others as cloth wipes instead of making them out of flannel.

We don't do socks under footed clothes/PJs. One word of advice, socks and newborns do not get along. We have only found one brand that actually stay on her feet; Little Me faux ballerina slipper socks from Marshall's.

  • We use Amira's swing everyday. I put her in it to keep her calm while I take a shower. And occasionally to nap.

Amira can't stand her bouncer (low tech though).

    We have like 5 towels.

    Nope.

  • We have a full sized swing and used it for 2-3 months before one baby stopped liking it (other one still does).  We only have one swing, but also have one bouncer and one rnp, so all get rotated.  They don't like the bouncer that much.  We have something similar to a rnp, but not as contoured and it turns into a toddler rocking chair later.  DH loves it and I don't think the baby lays in it very well but we use it and the rnp the most.

We have several baby towels but just use two (one for each baby).  We do baths twice a week since it is dry weather here and they aren't eating solids yet so don't get that dirty.   We do baby laundry every day since there is a lot of spit up and drool lately.  We've been doing baby laundry every day since the beginning, actually.

No socks under the footed outfits.

Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

  • We have a full size swing and M used it daily from about 2 months to 7 months. It's the only place she would nap for awhile. I guess it depends on which travel swing you're looking at. My mom has one and M sat up too straight in it and didn't like it. As far as one swing and one bouncer, M outgrew the bouncer before the swing. So you could start with one of each and see what your LOs like and go from there.

We have 6 towels but they're never all dirty at the same time. Four would be fine with one baby.

I don't put socks under outfits that have attached feet.

We have the Graco Forest Friends swing. It converts from a regular size swing to a travel swing and also completely folds flat for travel/storage. We use it for 3-4 hours every single day, Rachael loves it. In the first few days she would sleep in it at night rather than her bassinet.  It runs on 4 C batteries and we've only changed them once in 4 weeks with it running hours a day.

How many baby towels do you have/use? We have 4 and for now I think 2 is fine but as she gets older and has baths more often I'm sure ill be happy to have 4.

Do you put socks on under a little outfit that has attached feet? No I don't.

    Thanks for your input :)

  • We don't have a travel swing, ours is the snugabunny and M has liked it from day one! He is still happy to be in it and we were glad we bought it as we didn't have a RNP or bouncer. Guess we got lucky that he liked it!

We bought 3 baby towels and were given 1 more as a gift. However, we only use 2 of them as I do baby laundry pretty often, so we haven't needed the extras. One is quite a bit bigger so we'll probably use it when he has grown some more and we'll retire the smaller infant ones that we're currently using.

I don't put socks on underneath outfits that have feet. Socks are hard to keep on - I find the ON ones stay on the best. Footed sleepers and pants are great for not needing socks! Now he has more proper outfits (not just sleepers) that he is wearing he does have to wear socks more often.

  • We have a mamaroo swing and love it! It is pricey but durable! It plugs into the wall which I learned the hard way is sooooooo key. You go through a lot of batteries with other swings. We had a fisher price little lamb swing with my first and it broke two months after daily use. We also have an Ingenuity travel swing which is just fine!

Tqo towels is fine for us. They don't take baths every day when they are little and when they are older they don't need hoods and can use adult towels.

If an outfit has feet we don't put socks on.

  • 1. See have a really old seeing BC dh didn't want to shell out the money for a new snuggly one. Cora LOVES the newer snuggly swings and would always fall asleep in it at daycare. We will be getting one for our next baby. I would say to start with one and get two if you have to.

    2. We have 5, but only really use two. We have about 25 washcloyhs and I was glad we did because cora had a lot of clogged tear duct issues.

    3. From about October on, we always put socks under anything. Her feet just feel too cold without them.

  • We got this one, and early on, Lily napped in it every day. She's too big for it now, but we definitely got our money's worth, and it's not a freakishly huge contraption. I could easily move it from room to room and it doesn't take up a ton of space.

Rodney is in his swing every day!  For a couple of weeks it was the only place other thanmy chest that he would sleep.  I would probably get 2, assemle one and save your receipt.  Yes you can always buy a second but from our experience I'd want it on hand!  Wayne put Rodney's swing together at 2 AM as a last attempt to calm him down!

How many baby towels do you have/use?

I have 4 or 5.  I tend to do his laundry eery 2-3 days but like to have the extra just in case.

Do you put socks on under a little outfit that has attached feet?

    I do not.

    Thanks for your input :)

ETA- This is the swing we have:

  • 1.  We actually don't have a swing.  Our house is small and we just cannot fit one in.  We do have a bouncer that she likes well enough, though.  With twins, I'd probably try and do one swing and one bouncer.  My nanny-share family has a small swing that they like pretty well.

    2.  We have a ton of baby towels  (perhaps 12?)  I think we could get away with having only four.

    3.  I did once when she was out in the stroller in the cold.

  • 1. We use our swing every day. We have a graco that adjusts to two heights nd doesn't take up a ton of space.

    2. I think we have about six or so. I use two towels for each bath. I put him in one right out of the tub and then wrap him in the second dry towel while we lotion up.

    3. No.
