Where would you pick? I'm getting my yearly bonus in May and he's getting his in April. We're taking half of each and going on a big vacation. He wants to go some where like the Bahamas or the virgin islands. I want to go to Europe.
Why we should pick Europe: We haven't been there since our 1st daughter was 6 months old, SHOPPING, the history and art, the diverse countries that are all right next to each other.
Why we should not pick the Islands: We just went to Puerto Rico 10 months ago, we have family in Florida so we visit the beach often, because I'm the boss and I don't want to go(kidding......sort of
)
Why we shouldn't pick Europe: It may not be as fun for the kids as the beach, it will probably be more expensive.
Why we should pick the Islands: Our oldest really loves the water(there are beaches and pools in Europe too, just saying
), it will probably save us money, it's where the husband wants to go and he really likes to be the boss.
So if you had to pick for us. Where would you choose? Go Team Europe!! haha ![]()
Re: I want to go to Europe, he wants to go to the beach.
This! I would always pick Europe in any situation but only because I absolutely love it over there! You can go to Barcelona and hang out at the beaches there. Or Greece, French Riviera, different parts of Italy. So many options!
This. What about Portugal or Greece?
Let me ask you this - how much vacation time do you get in a year? Is this the only big trip you'll be able to take for awhile?
I ask because DH and I had the exact same conversation last year, and in the end I convinced him that we should go to Europe (I had never been, he'd been once as a kid). While I can't say I regret going, I probably would not choose to go again unless I had a job where I get several weeks vacation each year. I have not had a relaxing beach vacation for almost two years now and I am DYING. I didn't realize how much you need it to recharge your batteries!
If you have plan to go to beach place then Thailand is the beautiful place to go as it has open beaches and coral reefs.

How old are your kids? Are you really able to do much shopping, museum going and country hopping with them? I don't have kids, but I can't imagine any of those things would be easy with them.
Again it's not kid oriented, but I have a lot of Hawaii info in my blog. Oahu has museums, history, and ridiculous shopping (the first Chanel boutique in the U.S. was in Waikiki), plus lots of kid-friendly tropical activities.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.

You guys sound just like us! I have never been to Europe but I have always wanted to go. We just went to the Dominican this last year and our next vacation my DH wants to go to Jamaica with 2 family members.
I say go to Europe!
Good luck deciding!
I'm with you. I'm not a fan of laying on the beach on an island. I love to travel to Europe, Asia and South America and experience new cultures. I love wandering around new cities, sightseeing, etc. I also love to ski, so I'd choose that over the beach as well.
My DH travels the world for work, so he loves the beach thing. Last year we went to Bermuda and Norway. This year we're heading to Spain and Poland. Next winter we're going skiing. I kind of won this year. :-)

I would go to the South of Spain or Barcelona. You could spend some time on the beach. Then go take a day trip to some larger cities near by.
Exactly! When I went to Europe 2 trips ago we did half the time just lounging at the beach and half the time exploring. Best of both worlds. Plus a beach nobody has ever been to before.
