Tell me about Valentine's Day..
Luv it? Hate it? Have any plans?
For me, it is just THURSDAY. Man friend and I promised that we wouldn't make a big deal out of it but lo and behold some packages popped up in his closet on Monday (and he was all like "did you see what was in my closet, go look in my closet, check out my closet" - Lord). That caused me a great deal of panic so I have been to the mall twice since then trying to figure out what to do. I don't like the pressure. Not.At.All.
You?
Re: Tell me about Valentine's Day..
H and I have spent maybe one Valentine's Day together since we started dating [more than 8 years now]. So for us, it's just another day. When we first started dating, I wanted all the cute stuff - chocolate, flowers, teddy bears etc. But now, it's just eh...especially since our birthdays and wedding anniversary are in March.
Most years, we just exchange cards. Last year, he sent flowers, and he's probably sending flowers again this year. Good enough for me, especially since I already bought his birthday present and kinda forgot about Valentine's Day anyway.
We usually don't do anything. This year though we did do presents. They aren't really surprises though (see my post below). We also won't go out to dinner. It's too much of a hassle especially since it's on a weeknight. It's really just another day to us.
We don't do much, but we do celebrate it. MIL kept G overnight last Saturday, so we hung out at home for a little bit, then went to dinner and stayed up late watching movies--then slept in Sunday (fabulous), and just enjoyed spending the day together.
DH is working OOT until Friday, but I have a card and his favorite candy waiting for him. I kind of hope he sends me flowers
I enjoy having a reason to go to a fancier dinner but last year we took DD because we feel guilty asking anyone to watch the kids for something like that. This year we will still go out to dinner but somewhere loud and family friendly. I will take the kids to decorate a cookie cake at the grocery store in the morning and we will have that for dessert after dinner. We got the kids little gifts and I bought everyone cards. DH will buy me something and I appreciate the thought and procrastination... Although I am secretly wishing that he found a discontinued light fixture online somewhere because I may be a bit too upset that I can't find it anywhere!
Horsepig... What was in the closet??
We opened our gifts this morning....He got me some ridiculous organic bath and body products from a store called Lush at Penn Square - I have never heard of it but his closet started to smell amazing. The lotions are edible (he was very excited to tell me that). I guess after he checked out and was leaving the store, the associate was like "Now don't forget those lotions are edible so you can lick them right off of her!" He said he turned about 50 shades of red. He is a very manly man so I can imagine he about died on the spot, lol. I am pretty excited to try them out.
I've walked by that place but have never actually been in there.
You need to go in there. I can see you really liking this place.
Have you received your necklace yet?
Lush is amaaaaaazing! I love everything in there! Great gift
I did but I need to send it back. The chain is really short and it feels like it's choking me.
So I'll have them lengthen it. But that baby is going next day air.
We were boring. I think this was V-Day #11 for us, so I just made fondue for dinner (cheese and dark chocolate,) we walked over to my U to watch the first half of a basketball game, and then we watched The Americans together. We were in bed by 9. We are officially old.
That said, this week we have plans for dinner with friends, are hosting a book club at our house, are going to a dinner party, and have tickets to the symphony, so we're making up for it.
I am like Ami, walked by but didn't go in... Sounds like I need to fix that.
I think DH would have died if a sales associate said anything like that to him. He ends up spending way too much in places like that because he gets so nervous and just grabs 10 things just to be done.
