Curious what kind of gifts everyone is giving today!
DH and I stopped doing gifts on Vday and have a nice dinner out instead. We will go next weekend though, to avoid crowds.
The kids are getting Hotel Transylvania (at DD's repeated request). I also got each of them a shirt and an art project gift (Lanna's getting some kind of Barbie coloring sheets that you use real makeup on, and Wes is getting mess-free finger paint).
Teachers and Grandmas got chocolate covered pretzels.
Re: V-day gifts
I got DH new snowboard mittens and candy.
I have no idea what he got me, he leaves for work a 4:30, so I don't get up with him!
My mom got me a box of Betsy Ann chocolates and a gift card to Target.
DH and I don't do gifts anymore. We did go out to dinner this past weekend and we deemed that our Valentine's meal
DD got a Minnie Mouse blanket and she's giving out graham cracker goldfish bags at daycare. That's about it - we're pretty boring!
I bought DH a little box of chocolates - he loves the cheapy cream filled chocolates. We're also doing a spinning class tonight together, so that's our "date". I just got the kids a card and put a little bit of candy inside.
Noah got small boxes of chocolates for his classmates (and is taking 2 in for girls at afterschool! AW!) and Brody took a baggie with goldfish, a lollypop and a pencil for his class.
I don't know if DH got me anything, I leave before anyone else in the house is awake.
No gifts for DH & I, but we got the kids a box of Cars chocolates (Jake) and a Little Einsteins book (Liam)
I got my coworkers (and myself!) donuts this morning
I highly recommend the new brownie batter ones from Dunkin Donuts!
Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!!
Jake - 1.15.08
Liam - 5.17.11
DH & I exchange cards... that is really it. And I got DD a card but not really anything else. GASP. We will probably hot up the dollar store after school. Her favorite place-- ever. My mom and inlaws did up a box of stuff for her so she won't go empty handed. ha.
She is taking in choc dipped pretzel rods to school with her valentines tied on. Little boxes of candy for the teachers and I did do a little bag up for my little neice (who is at the daycare). Madi was excited to leave in her crib.
also, I was nice enough to send Brian this ecard this morning:
Jake - 1.15.08
Liam - 5.17.11
Cute! Have you seen the one on Facebook that just reads "I tolerate you" and has a picture of two ppl sitting on opposite ends of the couch on their tablets? I loved that one!
No gifts for DH and I, but me and C worked on a homeade card, full of dog and kitty stickers for him yesterday. DH is making a nicer than usual dinner at home for us tonight.
We got C stickers (see above...she's obsessed) and Melissa and Doug play food. The cookie creation set.
We don't really do gifts. The boys will get cards, candy, and small trinkets. DH will get a card and dark chocolate. He usually gets me a card and flowers or something small like that. We do a nice dinner at home.
The boys sent in little bags with their valentines, m&m's, stickers, mini-tablet, and crayons. Teachers got m&m's and D&D gift cards.
The kid got a pack of heart shaped gummies and these little sticky slug toys.
The husband got a card and a brand spanking new 50 gallon water heater, just installed today!!! No, that was really a coincidence, but we aren't doing much. He is traveling for work this week and just bought a few things for the house, so we are kind of just forgetting about it.
DH helped the kids make Valentine's Day cards to pass out to their classmates. That's it. We still have cake, chocolate and ice cream in the house from the birthdays last week. We don't need anything else...
i swear I've never heard of giving teachers anything for Valentine's Day and this year I've been seeing references to it all over Facebook, twitter and now here. Did I miss a memo?
DH got my rings re-dipped and cleaned (which ended up being free) and some chocolate covered strawberries for me. I got him some smoked almonds and old man pajamas (he wanted these for some reason).
The kids got some candy and valentine's day books. Brinley is giving out heart shaped crayons and skittles with valentine's day cards that say, "you color my world!"
I didn't do that last year, but this year I wanted to get something for the Grandmas (since they always buy for the kids), and so while I was picking up something for them I decided why not send in something small for the other caregivers in her life
The candy place in the PPG food court has small bags of candy and chocolates for $1 -- can't beat that!
My coworker did this as well and I'm eternally grateful for the brownie batter donuts!
The valentine's that we buy usually come with teacher cards, so we've always given one to the teacher. I normally just do small candy for them, but I happened to be in D&D and picked them up $5 gift cards. We only have 3 teachers this year, and I really like them, so I though why not?
We just got new weathertec floor mats for our car, so we're calling that our Valentine's present to each other
I got each of the boys a box of Russel Stover chocolates and a heart shaped Reeses cup for Valentine's Day.
I'm making a Valentine's comfort food dinner of chicken & dumplings
We went out to dinner last night since the 13th is when we got engaged (9 years ago!! Eek). We just did some small gifts that are souvenir stuff in Hawaii. We are still there. We got Dd souvenir stuff too.
She did little valentines with red heart lollipops for daycare. We dropped them off before we left so they can pass them out today. Dd was bummed she was missing passing them out at school.
Seriously! I didn't send anything for the teachers but I saw one of the teachers leaving with mulitple gift bags today. It's just valentines day! I don't even get my husband a gift and now I'm supposed to get the teachers something.
we went out to burgatory last weekend with friends no kids and we also have plans this Sat. without kids so I am not real worried about a "Valentines" dinner! I'll take 2 date nights out in a row.
I did get DH some Sarris chocolate Peanutbutter Pretzel sticks and I got Adam a card, chocolate pretzel sticks and a balloon on a stick. I wanted a reg heart balloon but I stopped at GE and they didn't have just red heart balloons and the cute bear one was $11!!!
I sent my niece a cute 1st valentine card with a cupcake on it and Adam included an angry bird valentine like he gave his call for her. = )
OH and as of now, 3:41 pm all I got was a kiss a happy Valentines Day and a couple I love yous. Dh did just leave the house though...
