S/O of Vday -- kid crushes
Do your kids have crushes yet?
Lanna has a crush on a boy from school this year. I asked her to point him out to me last week and she responded, like a true drama queen: "why can't you just be happy for us, mom, we're in love!"
Then she told me yesterday that she thinks he's falling in love with her too, b/c they played in areas together a lot and he gave her a hockey valentine with cookies, while apparently a lot of the other kids got licorice from him.
I'd forgotten about the over analyzing of Valentines until now!

Jake was at a swim party recently, and Brian said one of the girls kept saying "hiiiiii Jake!" every time she saw him, with that knowing crush look on her face. After the party, I asked Jake if that was his girlfriend, and he said "No, she's not...but she thinks I'm her boyfriend"
Then a few days later, he told me that his friend Maddie, "used to be my friend, but now I think she might be my girlfriend. But maybe we're just friends. I'm not actually sure what is happening there"
Can't figure it out, typical guy!

Heather has a crush on a second grader! We are in soooo much trouble.
(He came to her birthday party and seemed nice. I want to hate him, but I can't. :-p
Noah has been "in love" with the same girl since his first year of pre-school at age 3. Her name is Charlotte. He will actually talk about the future when he and Charlotte get married. (He was mad at DH once and he says to me "Charlotte and I are going to spend every Thanksgiving with HER family!!") There are two other girls that he'll admit to thinking are pretty, but he really only has eyes for Charlotte. (He took a box of candy and a Valentine today to give to her at afterschool).
Her mother told me once that when they were in 4 year old pre-school, Charlotte told her she had a problem. She didn't know if she should marry Noah or Devon - because Devon has grass stains, but Noah likes bugs. LOL! Her mom told her that she had a long time to think about it.

AH they are so cute!! I'd imagine the girls are much more into boys at this age than the other way around. At least that seemed to be true when I was this age.
Lanna's criteria for loving Jace is that he's a good colorer, they both have similar hair colors and he apparently has some kind of break dancing moves that she finds attractive. She suspects that Liam has a crush on her b/c he teases, but she only loves Jace. She spent all afternoon kissing the hockey puck tattoo that came with his Valentine.
None in her class--but this past summer one of the director's teenage sons (about 14) was helping with cutting the grass and landscaping. Brinley's teacher's said that she was standing at the fence batting her eyelashes and chatting him up.
I'm pretty sure Nolan is in love with his infant teachers. When we get to school in the morning he runs right past his room to the infant room so they can make a fuss over him and he gives them kisses. Then at the end of the day he likes to go back there to say goodbye as well.
LOL! Lanna said her teachers call one of her classmates "50 Shades." I wonder how she got that nickname!
Madi's will change by the day. Since she was a baby at daycare she and Owen have had a little love affair. He has moved onto the next room since he is about 6 months older and she seems to be buddies with all the boys. Now if you ask her, she will say Curt (the 15 year old neighbor) is her boyfriend. Um yeah don't think so kid.
Although at a birthday party recently the mom of the birthday boy said she is sure Madi and Evan will be going to the prom. Ha. She apparently greet everyone as they arrive at the daycare. I think she likes to be in charge and is deemed social director.
I don't think dd has a crush yet. She is much more a Girly girl into her little group of girl friends. There were 5 of them (down to 4 since 1 just moved) that have been together since infant room. She generally will say she doesn't like boys except for the durectir's son who has also been there since infant rooms. But I swear he must be the catch because at some point all the girls seem to talk about him. For awhile there was talk of dd and him marrying, then it was him and another girl, then another.
I distinctly remember having a big crush in kindergarten so its definitely the time! I can still remember his name! He moved away to Colorado and I was so upset!
I loved reading all of these stories!
I think Keefer is a bit too young to be into this yet. He was calling a girl who goes to his preschool and also to his babysitter his "girlfriend" for awhile but I think either she or their sitter made the label. A little while after he started saying girlfriend, he told me he his other friend, Eddie, is his boyfriend. I just smiled and nodded. That was awhile ago and there's been no more recent talk of girlfriends (or boyfriends).
