Boy/Girl!
It was just my 16 week twin growth scan and everything looked good. Tech asked us if we wanted to know and I was peeing my pants with needing to know... it looked pretty clear on the screen but I'm not going to get my hopes up! I do want to go buy boy/girl stuff but the lady was like, DON'T BUY ANYTHING YOU CAN'T RETURN!! My 20 week anatomy is now a 22 week because they are booked,so I made an appointment for an elective gender determination next week. Don't judge. ![]()
Babes are growing on track and look good so far, so that's all that matters of course :-)
The MFM I saw today was a douche, same one I saw last time and I thought he was pretty good. There was some discrepency about something my fertility doc put me on and his opinions on it, and he was condescending and rude. I'm trying to switch to HUP's MFM now because apparently according to Pennsy "you'll probably keep getting him..." There's like 324872389473 MFM doctors at Pennsy so I don't understand if I don't want to see him, why it's an issue. Now I have to get special permission from my OB even though it's essentially the same practice with the same access to records via their computer system.
Oh and I waited an hour and a half for my ultrasound...seriously, I don't have time to take 3 hours out of every day for each appointment. Luckily I have a really flexible schedule.

I was thinking about this -- I am like eight shades of livid for you that they are trying to do your 20 week scan at 22 weeks.
I know we all think of it as the big reveal scan, but it has lots of important medical implications too, and there is a reason they do it at 20 weeks. Two weeks is a lot of in the life of a fetus. "We are booked" isn't a good excuse, IMO.
I know this annoyed you -- I am just sharing that it annoys me too!
Exactly, thanks Amy. I said exactly this to the office when trying to schedule it. I had been informed that this scan should happen between 19-21 weeks, not before and not later. The girl at the desk acted like it was no big deal and I explained that I was not going 6 weeks without an ultrasound. There is a reason that with twins they are scanning every 4 weeks at this point and she again fought with me on it.
I'm so over it. I'm about to get on the phone again and am gonna lose my sh*t.
My OB hasn't called me back giving me permission to switch to HUP for scans/MFM and both offices (Pennsy and HUP) are looking at 22 weeks. I seriously had thoughts of switching to Jeff at this point, but I know the grass isn't always greener.
Update, they had an opening at 21 weeks but it was with the douchey MFM Dr. I don't want to see. I had to take 22w.. The receptionist said that she had to write a note that I "refused" the 21w appointment because I didn't want to see that Dr.
Seriously, I'm so done with healthcare. I don't understand why if I'm paying for something, if I decide that a Dr. isn't right for me WITHIN the practice, that I can't just see someone else. Where is there the law that says you are required to stay with one Dr. once you've seen him once.
She suggested I call back every day to see if there were openings. KelDel suggested the same thing, so I'll do that.
Yay!
Waiting for an u/s is never cool. Especially when your bladder is full...
