Thursday Thoughts

So I came up with a new thing since I know we get tired of the same things every week.

This is just a place to posts random thoughts you have had lately that you may or may not have told anybody!

Re: Thursday Thoughts

  • I HATE when people get infinity tattoos.. but leave the end open. The point of infinity is that it goes on forever in an endless loop.. if you don't close your loop.. you just have a sloppy 8 tattoo'd on your body...

Lol. This! Sorry to those who do like it.

Facebook. Why the eff do people feel the need to use their status update like a diary entry? I am so sick of people (not all, but there are some) writing things like "getting dress, getting the kid dressed, having breakfast, then going to the gym" etc. NO ONE cares! I don't need to know everything about your stupid day! I used to enjoy FB to see what people were up to, hear about accomplishments, etc. You might as well tell me you just took a dump. Plus all these meme posts. Sick of them! "Like this if you...."

  • I wish people kept certain things on pinterest a secret. For example nipple rings and how cute they are. First off I don't care if you have one but that is your business. Second I will not be repinning that so you can keep it private!

H delivered flowers to me at work & my first instinct was to put them on Facebook... and then I remembered this and didn't do it!

  • Valentine's day, period.  I just don't get it.  Why in the world is there one day out of the year when you go above and beyond to show someone you love them whether it be spouse, gf/bf, parents, etc.  It seems like people do these crazy things like buying candy/flowers/cards/jewlery and then think...ok good for the year.  I would much prefer my H to just do simple small things throughout the year to let me know he loves me (which is one of the reasons why I fell in love with him in the first place!).

There are women in my office today that are literally trying to show each other up with how big their bouquet is, where H is taking them for dinner, what jewlery they got.  It has gotten out of control!!!  It's like high school all over again....

Why can't it be both?  I just don't get why people talk about these 2 things like they are mutually exclusive.  My husband sent me flowers, bought me candy & a lottery ticket, and made dinner reservations for tomorrow.  Doesn't mean that he doesn't do small, simple things throughout the year as well.

I'm as annoyed by people who post smugly about how they are above enjoying flowers & presents on Valentine's Day, like they aren't vapid, shallow, materialistic sheep controlled by Hallmark and everyone else who does is....as much as people who feel the need to flaunt their gifts.  Honestly, I prefer the latter to the former.

Sorry for the snark, it's been a long day.  A long couple of weeks, actually...

THANK YOU!   JFC I'm so sick of hearing the same sh!t.  MH is the most romantic guy I've ever met, he's always super sweet to me and goes out of his way on a constant basis to be loving.  But V-Day can still be fun and special.  It's nice to take some time out of routine and do something different than normal.  It's nice to see the hearts and flowers filling up the grocery store, it's just happy.

I agree....H and I went out to dinner last night, got dressed up, ordered anything/everything we wanted because it was Valentines Day! To me, it's like a birthday or anniversary, where do you something more special together...something out of the ordinary.

I also understand that it's a "made up" holiday and I agree that things can get out of hand with the $ being spent on this day.

I also don't mind the FB posts with flowers etc. since I pretty much know on V-day, thats all I'm going to see...plus I even AWed my own gift from H Stick out tongue

YES!  Honestly, the world is a depressing place.  Turn on the news or head over to cnn.com and it's always something - shootings, continually worse news about the economy, natural disasters...I'm not going to complain about a day that celebrates love between spouses, families, and friends.  And to think that my friends consider ME the cynical one (I prefer the term "realist"!).
