Obama and the economy

How do you think Obama is handling the economy? Do you think he will make some positive changes in this next four years?

Re: Obama and the economy

  • I honestly don't think the president - any president - has much control over the economy at all.

    This.

If it was only in Obama's hands, then I think he could. But it's not.

  • I read in an article yesterday on Yahoo that he is going to bypass congress in his new economic plans....big shock

What does this mean, exactly? There's not a whole lot he can do without Congress.  The president doesn't have nearly as much power as many people think.

It seems interesting that this president is seen as not having any power or control over much of anything. I suppose that means he has little to no responsibility either.

And yet Bush, after more than four years out of office, is still blamed for most of the nation's woes.

I didn't say he doesn't have "any power or control over much of anything." I said he has much less power than many people think. In some areas, he has a great deal of power (such as foreign policy). In others (like the economy), he has very little.

And I said exactly nothing about Bush, so your point there is irrelevant.
