Dog resource guarding my bump
Our Jack Russel has had issues with resource guarding, and we have done really good with it so far. It deals with him and other dogs, including our Shih Tzu. They haven't had any issues for a long while now (at least a year plus). Well today he was in his normal spot next to me, and she came up and looked at me as if she was about to come sit on my lap. I could feel him about to get into a fight. This is the first time he has guarded my belly. He doesn't do any resource guarding with DH since he sees him as the alpha. Is there anything I should be doing since this might become an issue with him now?

We have a Jack Russel too, and we have noticed some changed in her behavior since I became pg. She is very protective over me to the point that she will growl and bark at DH if he hugs me for too long. (She is like the JRT referee.:)) She won't get violent, but it is not desirable behavior. We don't have another dog, but it does make me nervous that this behavior will get worse.
Keep me updated on your pup. I hope that both of our pups learn to chill out.
Will do Cee!

To make you feel my love.
I strongly suggest reading the book pp suggested and/or consulting a behaviorist. I would personally want to work on it prior to baby's arrival. The baby could make it worse, or no different, but I'd rather be prepared and have the skills to handle it.
We've had some issues with our cats lately and had to separate and do reintroducations. They have lived together since August of 2011 with no issues, until recently. The more mobile DS has become, the more issues we have encountered.
5 cats. 1 baby.
