Anyone have a good umbrella stroller?

I posted this on the Baby Gear board on the bump, too, but thought I'd see if you ladies could be of any help :-)

We're going to Cabo in June. Lucy will be 13 months old so I'm looking for a lightweight stroller that folds well but still has a decent sun shade and basket. Right now I have a City Mini that I love, but I'm looking for something smaller to travel with. I'd like to keep it around $200 or less if I can. I've had my eye on a few different styles, but am looking for some personal experience.

Also, feel free to mention strollers that aren't worth while.

  • We have a jeep cherokee stroller. It was a whim purchase because we were on our way to the state fair and had forgotten our stroller. We absolutely love it :) It still leans back so baby can sleep and it has a lower basket and cup holders up top but it is the size of an umbrella stroller. Also it was less than $50

I was looking at the G-Luxe and G-Lite because they seem super nice.  Do you know which you have?

I am WAY overthinking this whole thing and I'm sure anything would work.  Thanks for the recs so far ladies!

We have the GLuxe, I believe. It is super lightweight and what I like about it is that it's easy to fold up/unfold,etc.

I have the G-Luxe and I DO love it!  I see it all the time in Dallas, too!  It's funny, I never saw them until after I bought it!  The G-Lite does not recline, so that is the biggest difference between the two.  Also, the foot rest on the G-Luxe is adjustable and it has slightly larger wheels.  Parker seems very comfortable in it.  I was trying to decide between a Maclaren and the UB.  The macs didn't seem to have ANY cushioning in the seat and P just didn't seem as comfy in it.

For both models - It folds down and opens very easily.  And there is a shoulder strap on it so that when you fold it down, you can just toss it on your back.  It also stands on its own when folded. I bought it when I went to the STL GTG last summer and was traveling alone with P, it's something like 10lbs.  It was super easy to travel with by myself.  The sun shade on it is great!  The shade itself is pretty large, and then it has a UV shade that comes out even further and shades baby almost entirely.  The seat pad is removable and washable and the basket is easily accessible when the seat is not reclined.  You can still get into it from the sides when it IS reclined, but it's more difficult. OH!  And the frame in the back is shaped so that you don't kick it when you are walking, which I LOVE!!!   I don't know how tall you and your H are, but we can both comfortably push it (I'm 5'3" - K is 5'10").

I hope that my babbling has been helpful.  If you don't feel you need the recline, save a little cash and go with the G-Lite.  But we still use the recline feature at 11 months.

  • Thanks for your review of the g-luxe! You have me sold and since H usually doesn't have much opinion I'll make sure he's cool with the price. I really appreciate it!
