weekday activity for 2 year old
Taking my oldest daughter to preschool has become torture for my 2 year old. She desprerately wants to go to school and be with the kids. I've been searching for something for her to do on a Tuesday or Thursday morning while her sister is at school. I've looked at the local dance studio, the library, Sewickley y, and all star gymnastics. They all have appropriate classes but they're all on Wednesdays or Saturdays. Does anyone know of any other places that may offer an activity? We live west of Pittsburgh so something in Robinson, Moon, Sewickley. I did find a kindermusik class that may work.
Re: weekday activity for 2 year old
West Allegheny Library has preschool storytime on Tuesday mornings. It says ages 3-5 but I took Brinely to that storytime before she was 3.
Kindermusik
Kathy's Music Which is were we go in Mt Lebanon has a location in Robinson I looked it up and they have a Tuesday and a Thursday morning class. I don't know if the time works for you...the 3 means they have 3 openings in that class. They will let you start now and prorate you for the couple of classes that you have missed this session. Adam has done kindermuski since he was 6 months old and he loves it .But it's only 45 min once a week so it would be one day or the other
Kindermusik Our Time - Milk & Cookies / Fiddle-Dee-Dee for ages 1.5 to 3 years with Juli Wright in Robinson.

Thanks for the recommendation. How much is the class? and what all goes on at kindermusik?
Kindermusik is about $14 a class/week. That includes Home materials for that unit. home materials are : 2CD's of the music used in class, 2 story books, a parent book to help you understand what they are learning and suggest other at home activities to do and an instrument.
The instrument varies based on the class, we have gotten egg shakers, hand drums, slide whistles, and lots of other cool stuff over the years.
I always find it hard to explain what happens in class....lol
Each age group has a hello and goodbye song they always sing. and in between there are songs, dances, pretend situations and music they play. When they are young the music relation is slight- but they will explain rhythm and fast and slow and try to have them move fast or slow on play an instrument that way. Like I said the MUSIC education is loose, but they work on following directions and things as well. As they get older- like Adam's 3-5 class they work a little more with music terms and things.
Like I said Adam really enjoys it, if he wasn't interested I would quit, or I thought maybe when he started school since my initial reason for doing it was social since he didn't go to daycare, but he enjoys it and wants to go! he even said he wants to go to "young child" ( the 5-7yrs class and final level) and graduate from kindermusik.
They will let you try a class for free. Kathy is really great and all the teaches we have had are too! If you sign up tell them I sent you they do a referral deal.

Thanks for all the info! I think we will give it a try. Hopefully we can call it school and ease her pain of not being able to hang with the "big kids".

check and see if the CCAC has anything in your neck of the woods? I signed Nora up for swimming and toddler aerobics. :P
We do Music Together, which is a similar program to kindermusic. We really enjoy it.
Gymboree might be an option.
If you can't find anything you like, you might consider getting a carnegie museum membership... it's a great deal and you could hit a different one every week and not get bored.
