Car insurance

If you don't mind sharing, how much do you pay for car insurance? We got a quote from our current company and we think it is quite high. If you have similar prices I won't feel so bad.

Re: Car insurance

  • We have Geico and we pay $152 a month for two cars with full coverage, $500 deductable. DH has one minor accident on file, I don't have any. We don't have any speeding tickets. Don't forget it ranges a lot from state to state. I think NJ and PA are two of the higher states.

Married the love of my life on 1-21-12. Our princess arrived on 5-28-13.

  • I'm in California and we pay 147 for an 05 honda civic and an 08 prius, two of us, ages 22 and 23. No tickets or accidents. Full coverage including uninsured/underinsured, etc. Oh! And that includes renters insurance. We have Encompass. That's with all the discounts like safe driver, direct deposit for month to month payments, good student discounts. We went through an amazing insurance agent (family run business) who my parents use too.

  • Thanks. It really isn't all that bad then. It will come up to $150 dollars a month, but it will also be a brand new car, and a major accident on file. So all in all, not too bad.

  • I used to work in the insurance area.  While it does differ between states, it will also differ based on how populated an area you live in as well as what that accident rate is in your area.  Even if you don't have any accidents on file, if the area you live in has a high rate of accidents you are going to be paying more overall than if you lived somewhere safer.

Ours recently changed due to our new vehicle but I want to say it's about $180 a month. That's for full coverage on three vehicles.  Once we sell DH's truck it'll be more like $120-140 a month.  No accidents on file or speeding tickets for either of us.

  • $620 every six months.  We have $500.00 deductible.   We have a 2010 Honda Civic and a 2012 Toyota Corrola. We use Progressive.

  • We were using Geico but we changed since buying the house. Now we are using the insurance Costco has. My parents told me how much cheaper it was and we save almost $1800 per year.
