What fabulous things have you been doing? I?d personally like to hear about the delicious beer, wine and booze you?ve been drinking (but that might just be me). Do you have any exciting plans for this spring or summer?
Re: Child-free Check In
I am working, internship, school, etc.
H has an interview for a job on Monday, and it is the MOST PERFECT JOB EVER for him.
This spring lots of people are having babies so I am going to snuggle some newborns. And maybe a vacation this summer.
Best of luck to him ( and you ;-) )!
Even though we are without child, we have been in hibernation mode lately. This weather is starting to get to me. I hate being cooped up inside, and am eagerly looking forward to spring. There is nothing that makes me happier than sunning myself on our deck with an adult beverage and a good book.
We are in the midst of planning a vacation for later this summer. Our last trip, to Scotland, was not exactly relaxing since we were constantly on the move. This time, we plan to plant our butts next to the ocean at an adults-only AI. Not sure where; we are looking around right now, trying to find the best deal. If anyone has any recent recommendations, please share
We went to Rivera Maya for our HM in May and stayed here..http://www.valentinmaya.com...it was reasonable and the best vk ever.
We just got back from Disney and pretended to be kids. It was a nice fun exhausting experience. We just planned our 1 year get away to DC for the weekend and then July or annual trip to NWW for a week with my family. His family has a house in Avalon that they rent out but we hoping lots of weekend trips in April if it warms up. I want to just see and do everything, Im driving my H nuts with all my plans ha. We really don't have the money but Im making it work.
Thanks Melissa - I'll be sure to check out that place. We stayed at Secrets Capri in the Riviera Maya, and we really enjoyed the area.
I so want to go to DC for a weekend, preferably in May for our anniversary. I'm hoping I can score a good deal on a nice hotel with Hotwire. Last time I was in DC was for a 6th grade class trip, so it's been a while.
Check out the Kimpton Hotels--they have 8 or 9 of properties in DC and 3 in VA (Arlington, Alexandria). We stayed at the Hotel Helix 2 years ago, which is close to the White House and about 100 yards from the BEST beer bar/restaurant in DC--Birch and Barley.
It's 6 blocks to the Metro and approximately 1.25 miles to the Mall, but completely do-able if you feel like walking.
Yay about Birch and Barley. I was going to start looking into some fun restaurants. Thanks for the tip!
We just got back from a trip to Savannah GA, where the mister and I participated in the Tybee Run fest. It's a 2-day event, with a 5K on Friday night, then [bright and early Saturday morning] a 10K, a half-marathon, a 2.8 mile beach run, and finishes with a 1 mile fun run. All in all, it comes out to the marathon distance. I was pretty pleased with my finishes and managed 3rd or 4th in my age group for several of the races. Not everyone is crazy [like we are] and registers for all 5 events/marathon and most people will do 2 or 3 events total. That said, I was REALLY pleased when I found out that I placed 2nd in my age group for the marathon distance.
We also had a chance to check out three really great beer bars in Savannah:
We definitely plan to return--it's a great little city and perfect for a long weekend getaway. There's a direct flight from PHL to SAV daily.
Around here, I recently had the chance to go to the Falls Taproom on Sunday with friends (great beer selection) and I've been meaning to crack into the supply of Russian Imperial Stouts that are sitting in my beer fridge.
Our love of running and beer with collide this weekend as we help out the Sly Fox at a Endurance Sports Expo on Saturday and then a trail race on Sunday. We are planning an overnight to Baltimore in late April, so that we can see the mister's favorite band--Clutch--play live. Not sure what our summer will bring, other than lots of races--we have yet to plan our race schedule for the year, but I have a feeling that we'll travel a bit more for races and do longer distances.
Isn't it great? You were like two second from my house so if you ever want to go, just let me know and I'll walk down and meet you there!
