Flush Mount - Lay Flat Album??

Hi Ladies,

It's been a while since I've been on the board, things have been crazy busy since the wedding. Anyhow, I was wondering if any of you made your own albums? I worked for a photographer - during our wedding, but I wanted to design my own. The problem is that I really want a flush mount album or at least a lay-flat album. I've looked into Blurb...but they don't offer it and I've had a not-so-good experience with Shutterfly (who does offer the layflat option).

Any one done this before? Picaboo seems to have more options, but the layout programming is slow and not so user friendly.

Any advice/experience? Let me know! :)

Re: Flush Mount - Lay Flat Album??

  • What was your issue with Shutterfly?

I ordered some albums from them and the quality was great, but some of the pages were stuck together.  I called them about it and customer service was SUPER friendly and helpful and shipped out brand new books with next day delivery, free of charge.

I have no experience with anyone else, though.  GL

  • I have had great experiences with Shutterfly and I am near positive that Snapfish does a lay flat now.

  • I did a lay-flat album from Picaboo for my parents album, and it was pretty good quality.  I wasn't overly impressed with the lay-flat- it wasn't as nice as the flush mount from the photographer- but for the price, I would definitely do it again.  I thought it was a little nicer quality than Shutterfly, although I've not seen Shutterfly's lay-flat pages.  There aren't as many layout options with Picaboo though, if that's super important to you.

  • There is a lay flat option with Snapfish now. I made one as my "just because" album for me of pictures I loved. It came out really nice.

I'm not as impressed with Snapfish as I used to be- they changed the design software and I don't think it was for the better (at least how I designed things). But the book did turn out lovely and I would use it again no question.

  • Thanks everyone for the feedback- I'll start looking into the options you posted.

I looked back at the last project I did and it was actually Mixbooks that I had a problem with, not Shutterfly. Not sure how I got it mixed up.
