Here is a piggyback on the previous thread on tipping for delivery.
Do you tip for carry out?
When you call ahead, and drive yourself to pick up the food and someone hands you a bag and rings you up at the register, do you tip them?
Honestly, I don't.
In my mind this process isn't any different than ordering at a fast food restaurant. You place an order, someone bags it up and hands it to you while using a cash register to ring in your order. Just like McDonald's.
I do tip delivery drivers who come to my door.
Re: Tipping For Carry Out?
I do this exactly.
TTC since June 2012
I do the same as well, unless its somewhere they bring it out to the car, then I usually do a small tip
BFP 11.8.12 * EDD 7.17.13 * MC 12.20.12
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over!
I generally do not tip for carry out. The only exception to this is when I have a HUGE order at Skyline and the person is EXTREMELY helpful. Other than that...no.
But, I will tip a delivery driver.
Put me down for not tipping for carryout. I've read some other threads on this topic and the no tipping conclusion is the same. Few odd ducks who tip a buck, but that's about it.
