Reduced movement

The last couple days LO has been moving a bit less.  Still moving, but differently.  There have been a lot fewer crazy kicks and a lot more pushing or rolling sensations.  I'm not really worried, just kind of curious about what is causing this.  Growth spurt?  Change of position?  Maybe both.  It's just weird because I was so used to LO going crazy in there!  It's much more subtle now.

Re: Reduced movement

  • This happened to me around 25-26 weeks. She had shifted positions and I went almost an entire day without movement. Everything was fine, but looking back I wish I would have called the OB since I really couldn't feel her at all. I am sure everything is ok, but if you are concerned you should call.

It's good to know that someone else had this happen, too!  I'm still feeling stuff, so I don't feel like I need to call yet.  It's just amazing how quickly the movements changed.

  • same happened to me at 27w. i actually ended up going to l&d after making several calls to the nurse and that's what they told me to do. turns out he was moving around SO much that we couldn't keep the monitor on him. i had to hold it and move it around to find him because he was moving so much he was dropping off of the monitor. they did a quick u/s just to be sure things were fine. they had no idea why i wasn't feeling him because he was certainly there. he must have flipped to an odd angle.
Thanks to our wonderful RE our family is complete!

  • I've also noticed a difference in the way his movement feels. Last week I was getting major kicks and then it went back to a more rolling feeling and now he's back to kicks. I think they're just trying to get comfy!

  • E shifte around that time too and I felt more rolling motions. Like my entire belly would be moving. But I will say to trust your guy. Especially as you get a little further along. That's how they found out that e was in trouble and needed to come out. You know what's normal for you. Don't feel bad about calling, even if its just for reassurance! ??

  • That happened to me, too.  When I asked the OB about it he said that they don't expect constant movement until 30something weeks and before that it's not cause for concern.

I was still concerned but put at ease by an NST.

  • I had the same thing happen around the same time. She was still moving so I never called in, but it was really subtle and not very often. Then, around 28 or 29 weeks, she started going really crazy and now she beats me up all the time.
  • That happened with me frequently. I would poke my belly until I got a nice poke back to ease my mind.
