So excited. Spent the past two days planning a trip for me and T for Disney World in 2014. I went for a marching band trip in 2009 when I was a junior in hs. Dream come true. T went once when he was five and doesn't remember anything. We've wanted to go once together before we have kiddos and now that we're putting TTC on hold, now's the chance. I know Disney World is expensive, that's why we won't go until either March or May 2014. Plus I don't have vacation time until then. I know, I'm a little kid. I can't help it sometimes. = )
In more adult news, I finally got our tax forms from FIL (who prepared our taxes this year) so I was able to file for FAFSA. Hoping to get our tax refund soon so I can take care of business and finally apply. I alerted the school about all of it, just in case. It's one step closer so I'm pretty pumped.

Re: FAFSA and Disney World
Oooo! Okay, a few things:
1) Marching band!? What did/do you play? I play saxophone!
2) FAFSA- I still have not done mine, so more power to you! I've been putting off taxes, since we owe about $400 haha. But I'll be doing both taxes and FAFSA this weekend.
3) Jared and I were just talking about Disney World this weekend! We want to go at some point, but will probably wait until we have kids. Ugh, 2014 can't come soon enough! So exciting!
I was in both marching band and concert band. In concert band I played the flute. During marching band I did Color Guard or Flag Core. I've heard it's been called both. I used to be first chair flute but then I started doing CG and that's where all y time and energy ended up. It's something I still really enjoy doing from time time.
But yeah! We got to march in the night parade in Magic Kingdom in front of thousands of people. It was wonderful and some of the best memories of high school. Did you do marching band? = ) I'm so happy to meet another "band geek"!!
I agree. I already can't wait for 2014. I've always been a kid at heart and had passion for Disney movies. So, I really didn't want to wait until we had kids.
As for FAFSA, I had to do it today, otherwise I was going to forget.

Oh yes! First chair alto saxophone in jazz band and concert band. I had a professional model horn so I didn't want to take my horn out into the rain/bad weather for marching band so for freshman and sophomore year I played Trombone, Junior year I played Sousaphone, and Senior year I was drum major
Looooved it. I played in the top wind ensemble at my university all through my bachelors. No time for it during my masters, but still sub for some groups back home
It IS nice to meet another band geek! I did go to band camp 7 years in a row
haha
And fafsa is in my planner for tomorrow
Hopefully won't forget. I want/need scholarships! haha
You guys are going to have so much fun when you go to Disney. My mom lives in FL but every time we visit it is taken up by family. One day when my kids are old enough I will go.
Wish I knew how to play an instrument... Very talented.
Thanks!
Yeah, my parents sold my flute right after high school. Made me really upset. While I wasn't interested in being a music major, I still wanted the chance to play every once in awhile. The college I went to didn't have a Color Guard, I didn't have time or money to do a drum core, and I'm doing the online degree so no Color Guard there. I've done a few variety and talent shows in town though since high school. Some of my best memories are at Band camp ; ) and Drum Major? Nice! I sometimes catch myself doing Attention when I'm listening to someone. Granted it's a lazy version of attention but still = )

When I went in 2009, we only went for four days so I just got a taste. I didn't get to do half the stuff I wanted to. I am so excited.

This is the first solo I did. Watching it now makes me cringe lol. I've done much much better routines. But, you have to start somewhere.

BAND GEEEEEEKKKKSSSS!!!!!! Can you tell I am super excited? Totally a band geek myself. Played French Horn in concert band. I wasn't really all that great, but I still get to play over the summer in a free summer band in my area. But in marching band, I was the feature twirler, aka majorette. But I was by myself. I have done fire twirling a few times, but not for a long time. J was a sousaphone player. We actually started dating on a Band trip. I also sing, and did all the way through high school. I now sing in a community choir.
I can't watch the videos though, because youtube is blocked at work.
I love Disney too! May is a great time to go- I have been there in may 3 times. It is nice and warm. Plus, there are some nice deals, or I have never would have been there during that time. Let me know when you are planning. It can be a pretty affordable trip depending on your options and how long you stay. But needless to say, I have been there 6 times. My mom has been there 11. So if you need any advice, let me know!
It is has been so long since I filled out a Fasfa. Boy did I hate those.
Guess I'm in the minority here in that I'm not a band geek. My mom made me play in the school band for 4 years before I finally talked my way out of it.
Yay for a Disney trip. I really want to go. I've never been but hubby and I decided we'll put that off until our kids are older (8ish).
And yes thank you for the reminder to do my FAFSA. This is hopefully the last one I have to fill out for a long long time. We've done our taxes - I just keep forgetting to do the FAFSA.
Yeah for another band geek! I've always wanted to learn how to twirl.
and yeah and thank you! For the advice for Disney. = ) May has generally been when they project that crowds will be low and prices will be moderate. Super super pumped.

I'm not a band geek either, so you have company! Though sometimes I wish I had been, everyone always seemed to have so much fun.
