Poll: what did/do you say to decline a drink?
Plans for tonight and tomorrow night are to have dinner out with friends. I thought I would be fine playing it off at dinner, but now the couple for tonight wants us to come over for drinks at their house first. I think I will just say I have been fighting a cold, but I know for sure that the wife, who is my good friend, will be really suspicious.

another good one. I really could care less if they are suspicious, but its one of DHs best friends and he really doesn't want anyone to know yet.

I cut out alcohol for a number of reasons the month before my bfp.
I said it was part of overall healthy eating plan, which was
one of the factors.

I do not mean this to sound snarky, this is just how it is with my group of friends....
If you don't drink, it doesn't matter how great of a reason you have, all the girls will assume you are pregnant. So I always felt like my options were 1. Stay home 2. Fake drink or 3. Accept that everyone will know I am KU

The antibiotics excuse isn't really valid, since there is only one or two antibiotic that you REALLY can't drink with.
Just say you're tired, don't feel like drinking tonight or the migraine thin is good too.
Not snarky at all. This is kind of the case with our friends. I think that this weekend I am going to say I had a migraine, which I do get. I am going to have to fake drink in a few weeks. There is a huge group trip planned to Medieval Times, involved pre-gaming, a party bus, and the show. I am planning to carry around DHs emptys for evening.

I would order the same thing as DH and sit next to him-- he would drink both of ours. I'd drive home.
Plus I felt like such crap in first tri that we didn't go out a ton, and the above trick worked for all of our dinner engagements.
