Asking to change credit card due date?

DH and I paid of his car today!! Yay!

We have a good e-fund that I'm currently putting $300 a month in (thinking of upping it to $600 now that DHs car is paid off).

My question is: We have two credit cards. Discover and a USAA credit card. The Discover Card gets paid on the 18th and the USAA gets paid at the beginning of the month. With rent and daycare, the first two weeks of the month tend to be a little tight. BUT, the last to weeks of the month are pretty good. Is there anything negative with asking for the USAA credit card to change our due date to later in the month? We'd be able to pay more monthly at that time.

We're working to pay them off. Their each under $2k.

Re: Asking to change credit card due date?

  • Nope this is totally fine. Just ask them to change the statement cycle date so the payment date ends up landing on or around the date you'd like it to be.

    All of this!

I changed the due date on one of my cards and it was totally fine :)

  • I changed mine. When Dh changed jobs he went from weekly pay to biweekly like me. It got a little hectic so we changed our card date.
