Student Loans are going to be the death of me

That is all.  I have been on hold for almost 1 hr.  I might scream.

I called the other loan place and they need me to resend all my paperwork.  Seriously, no one should be put through this much annoyance  Its like a full time job to manage.

Re: Student Loans are going to be the death of me

  • That reminds me that I need to call them and see if they can lower my payment or something. They want me to pay half my mortgage payment each month to student loans! Yeah not likely to happen. I dont even like ot think of my loans, they're nothing but stress!

  • J and I pay 1308.00 a month for SL.  It is no wonder they won't give me a loan to buy a house.  We are switching all of them except 1 for Income Based because we just can't live with all our money going to them anymore. We are also doing the public loan forgiveness program.
  • You have my sympathy pain coming your way. Ugh, good luck to all! Money stresses me out too much.... We should have a getaway. All of us together :P

Aww Thanks!  Money used to stress me out real bad, but now I just try to roll with it.  We have been talking about all going on a vacation together.  Unfortunately with all the pregnancies, I doubt it will happen. All money has to go to the babies.  But we get to be the cool online aunts and uncles.

  • So I have an idea of where everyone is, but not really. So where is everyone? :)

And I wish money didn't stress me out so much. More Jared, we just had a discussion, but every little payment stresses me out. Like him buying coffee. I'm trying to relax more. But I don't know how to not stress out about money besides just making more money haha

Between DH and I we pay around 1000 a month. I'm going to have to see abotu income based repayment as well. I'm just dreading making the call. I really do think schools need to do a better job on student loan education. When you are young and first starting college you really dont think about the long term effects for student loans.

I work for a for profit assisted living so I don't qualify for loan forgiveness, dang it! I keep telling DH he needs to look into this but he hasn't yet. Double dang it! LOL

NM it didn't come through the first time.  Now I see your response.

  • Wow I didn't realize student loans could get that expensive... I pay $31 a month. DH I think pays $200, he's almost 40 and still has not paid them off.

Print this for him.  After 10 (or 120 payments) years of being in the public service spot, he can apply.  You have to apply every year just to keep tabs on it.  It doesn't take too long for the application.  Otherwise if he teacher at a school that qualified there is a 5 yr teacher loan forgiveness program but it only allows 17,500 to be paid. And I wish money didn't stress me out so much. More Jared, we just had a discussion, but every little payment stresses me out. Like him buying coffee.

I couldn't help but laugh when I read this.  I hit the gym last night and considered going to Wal-Mart or Taco Bell or the local pizza place to get something on my way home.  Decided against it partly as I'm still trying to get my weight down and partly because I didn't want to spend any money.  So I got home and was proud of myself for not spending anything.  Joy came home from work and showed off the two outfits she got on a two for one sale.  I think she spent maybe $8 and I just stood there with that "I can't win" look on my face.

Not upset over the $8.  Just thought it was funny that on the day that I fought myself over spending about the same amount she came home having done what I talked myself out of.....lol

That is quite ironic. I do this too.

I can't believe that you all pay so much to student loans. Jen, you have a payment more than what I want to have for a mortgage payment. J and I fortunately had a lot of scholarship and parents that were able to help us that we had so little to pay back. I always wonder how we got so lucky.

BTW- Meg is from my area in PA, we actually went to the same University, but quite a few years apart. But she now is in FL.

  • I don't like to think of my student loans.  Currently I pay about $75 a month but it's only on a small portion of my original loans from school 10 years ago.  The main chunk of loans I won't have to start paying on until after I graduate in December.  They look to be between $350-500 per month depending on the payment plan I go with.  I might look into the income based repayment plan since I'll be staying home at that point.  But ugh!  darn expensive things.

  • I pay $109 a month from the 10,000 I had in loans from the 2010-2011 school year. Hopefully I don't add too much more going back to school.

Haha I'm glad you understand haha. Funny how that seems to happen. I should have mentioned that this discussion came after a trip to Walmart. He asked if he could get a 12 pack of redbull. I said sure. Then he saw a 4 pack of starbucks mocha and asked if he could have that too. I said sure as long as he didn't buy any coffee for the week (from a coffee shop). THAT's when the conversation started about him wanting to buy coffee and not wanting to "settle" haha. But I figured the redbull and the mocha was spoiling and a splurge haha

Funny how the mindset of "look at the money I saved since it was on sale". I always have to stop myself and say "look at the money I saved since I didn't by anything"

    Hahaha....

Joy will come home and say "Honey, I saved $5 today!" and my response is usually "And how much did you spend to save $5?"
