Did you/Will you do a 3D/4D Ultrasound?
If yes, was it worth it?
If not, what was your main reason to not do it?
My sister had a 3D ultrasound when she was pregnant with my last nephew and I just think it was so beautiful and something cute to keep always. I found a place that does it here in Denver between $159-$259 and I am actually interested.
What do you think?
Re: Did you/Will you do a 3D/4D Ultrasound?
We didn't, mainly because we couldn't justify the price. $150 seems like a lot of money to me to spend on 3D images, especially when we'd be meeting our son just a few months later. To put it in perspective...our crib was only $180.

I find 3d us to be kind of creepy, but I will get a free one Friday
bc of a study I'm in. I wouldn't pay $150 for it. Babies are expensive enough.

Yeah, I completely agree with you! The price is high and I don't know if it will be worth it but I'm so tempted...
I still have a lot of time to think about it though. LOL!
I think the 3-d pictures are weird looking (kind of makes the baby look strange) so I wouldn't want one.
at this point, i dont think i will do any elective u/s. we had a dating u/s at about 9 weeks, n/t scan at 13 weeks and will have the a/s at 21 weeks.
I am not dying to find out the sex (which seems to be why everyone on my bmb gets them). In fact, I would prefer to be team green (but I think I am going to let dh "win" this one).
Of course, it is always nice to see the baby, but we are saving for maternity leave.

Definitely a "nice to have" and not a "need to have".
THat said, we did it. We found an online special for $120. I would look at it as the full experience, not just the images. We took the grandparents with us (first grandchild on both sides), and they really loved it. They took us to dinner afterwards, so it half paid for itself from that
The images themselves were mediocre, but for the last few months of the pregnancy it was fun to have it to show people, and it is neat how she really looks like her 3d pics. And we (and especially the grandparents), loved watching baby on the screen for our 20 minute session-- you can see it move and swallow etc. Magical. (no 3d images were covered in my routin medical care so this was our only chance to see 3d of baby at all).

Hahaha, they do look kind of creepy! I guess I'm interested because of the keepsake. But then again, I don't even know if my sister even knows where her DVD is at, maybe it's really not worth it.
I'm jealous you get a free one though..
That is cheap, I wish I could find something like that!
Mr. Google only showed 2 places in Denver :-/
You just said exactly how I feel and why I want to do it. (if that makes sense).
If we do it, I would love to take my family and make it a great experience for everyone.
That is a really good deal! I'm going to keep shopping around and maybe find something cheaper. I am interested but not $200 interested and I know DH wont be $200 interested..
This for us. We wanted to know the genders in time for Christmas, I was 16 weeks. I'm so glad we did, it was a really fun for our families. We paid 45$ and an extra $15 for the other baby. Well worth it.
DH wanted to do it again, but I don't like 3D.. and it's too late now, they said 24 weeks for twins.
How we told our parents: They opened two gift bags each, 'something a little extra for your tree this year'.
I think it is so fun to do a Christmas surprise reveal for the grandparents!

I agree with Cinderin! That is so cute!!
And Venti, I think that's why I want to do the 3D ultrasound to find the gender out sooner. I will not be able to stay team green.
We did one. DH got it for me as a Christmas present. We didn't really do it for the pictures but for us, my pregnancy was really really stressful because of my two prior miscarriages. We did 6 medical ultrasounds during my pregnancy which were all looking for stuff that might be wrong, like double checking that there was a heart beat, looking for chromosome abnormalities, making sure he wasn't IUGR.
So the 3D ultrasound was literally the only ultrasound we had where the purpose was to just look at our baby without worrying about what they would find. It helped is both to relax a little bit and bond with him a little more. I wouldn't have paid for it myself, but the grandparents loved the photos and DH and I really enjoyed the experience of hanging out with our baby.
Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
After 31 cycles and two losses, we've been blessed with a healthy baby girl!
