Please recommend your florist

Hi Ladies,

I am visiting your board from the Knot.  I am getting married at the Peter Allen House in late June, 2009.  I am in search of a reliable and reasonably priced florist in the area.  I already met with Wayne Noss and Hammakers.  Unfortunately, Backwoods and Olde Towne Florist & Greenery are booked on my date.  Would appreciate your assistance, as "word of mouth" means a lot to me.

 Thanks again!

Re: Please recommend your florist

  • We used Petals & Beans located in Strasburg. We met with Stacia, who is the owner, and we were so happy with their service. She had many great ideas and will work with whatever you envision. A lot of our guests especially complimented on our centerpieces.
  • I used Pealers in Camp Hill.  People say that they are a bit pricey, but I thought everything was beautiful.  We cut our flower cost in half by not having ceremony decor and using candle centerpieces on half our tables.

    We got

    8 centerpieces

    1 bride bouquet

    4 bridesmaids

    3 wrist corsages

    8 bouts

What i loved about Pealers is we talked about adding in fiddle fronds to my bouquet.  The brown swirled things.  She couldn't get them in, but made them out of wire.  It was really nice and thoughtful.

  • I used Michelle Lutz, who is based in Middletown - she did an excellent job and was very reasonably priced.  She works out of her home so, if you decide to meet with her - don't be alarmed, her place is cluttered, but she does great work. Her number is (717) 944-5425.  Several of my friends have used her and were very pleased.
  • We used Wayne Noss and I can not say enough good things about him. In comparison to other places I found him to be reasonably priced and he did a wonderful job. He's not a "warm fuzzy" kind of guy, but he did exactly what I asked for so that's all that matters!

We had a bit of an issue with our cake. I had a "cupcake" cake which was made by my MIL, and the stand built by my father. Because we were not paying the cake slicing fee, our venue would really have nothing to do with it. We had ordered roses to top the upper cake. When I realized we were stuck at the last minute and had no one to set the cake up, I asked Wayne if he would mind placing the cupcakes on the stand and asked if he could  "sprinkle a few rose pettles around". He took the time to put a rose pettle under each of the 150 cupcakes that were on the stand. He could have said no, yet went above and beyond and didn't charge us a cent for the set up. I don't have pictures on my bio, but to this day our cupcake "cake" is the nicest one I have ever seen thanks to Wayne.

Two of my friends used him and loved him as well.

  • I will echo Emmy's sentiments of Wayne Noss.  I met with many other florists, I was so happy with Wayne Noss.  He really listened to exactly what I wanted and didn't try to pressure me into packages or away from my vision.  His prices were also great compared to most of the other florists.  He even delivered to Gettysburg and set everything up for us without charging a large extra fee, unlike every other florist we contacted.

Most importantly, I was impressed with the quality and the attention to detail.  I had very detailed instructions and he really came through for us.

My brother used him for his wedding as well and many of my mom's friends use him for other arrangements.

    Good luck!

  • I loved Kathy at Le Petit Jardin on the West Shore.

She gave us great quantity and quality for price.  She and I designed everything, from bouquets to centerpieces and from pew buckets to altar arrangements.
