How did you/do you feel around 17 weeks?
Gah, I don't even know how to ask the question... My brain is pulling a brain fart on me today.
Anyway, DH and I are planning on going to a wedding in April and I should be right around 17 1/2 weeks. How did you feel at 17 weeks?
We are planning on buying our tickets tomorrow but what do you ladies think? Should I consult my Dr first?
Re: How did you/do you feel around 17 weeks?
You'll be fine. I was barely even noticing my stomach at that point, and although I was kind of tired, it wasn't an overwhelming tired.

Thank you ladies!
Botanical: Do you think I should wait to buy our tickets until I talk to her or go ahead buy the tickets tomorrow and then tell her when I go in for my appointment next month?
Thank you! I think I can handle the tiredness
specially since we aren't staying with family. I'm going to enjoy this as our babymoon.
.
As long as you haven't had any complications, go ahead and buy your tickets and just inform her next time you see her. That's what I did when we traveled and I was about 23 weeks. She was cool with it.
Great, thank you for the info. I will book tickets then and let her know. She hasn't said anything about me being high risk or anything so I think she should be okay with it too.
We did get travel insurance just in case we couldn't go for some reason. Keep that in mind when purchasing. I doubt you'll need it, but it was worth the extra $30 per person to know we wouldn't lose out on our trip if we had to cancel for an emergency.
This! I travelled to Europe at 14 weeks and will be travelling to the Caribbean in a week (26 weeks). I had already had our tickets booked when I found out I was pregnant, but I haven't been high risk and at all. The only advise I would say is that if you're flying at all, get compression socks! They helped a ton with circulation, especially for such a long flight! I plan to wear them again next week when we leave.
dr's don't care about traveling until you're beyond the 30w mark, so waiting to talk to your dr will be moot.
i last threw up at 16w. i did not feel so hot at 17w. i actually had a round of spotting and heavy cramping at 17w and ended up going to the ER to be checked out. but i had been sick the entire beginning of pregnancy, it just hadn't gone away yet. so if you're not sick now, you're probably fine.
but all these people with their "i was totally fine!" clearly don't know what it's like to be sick for much of the pregnancy. not everyone is fine at 17w. ask chrissyrmu how she felt until the day she delivered.
I completely understand what you are saying and that worries me. When I had just found out I was pregnant I had sharp tummy pain and got checked out. I haven't had any spotting but I did have cramps around weeks 4 through 6, which I think everyone says that's normal.
The only thing is that I have had really bad nausea, and I mean bad. The dr gave me zofran to help so I wonder if I could have a problem with that... Do you think that could be a problem?
Driving worries me, I went on a short road trip with DH i think the total drive was 8 hours and I was in pain when we got back.
I think the flight might not be tough because the flight time from Denver to Los Angeles is 2 hrs so that's not so bad. Then the wedding is 20 minutes away and while we are in California DH is taking me to finally see the beach and where I was born in Ventura and that's an hour drive. So actually being on the road won't be rough, I think.
I get what you are saying, but even if you are going to be sick your entire pregnancy, 15-19 weeks is probably still the best time to travel. I feel like it is when you have the best chance at feeling good. Having said that, I started throwing at 18w and have continued to do so everyday, mostly because of heart burn/acid reflux, so it definitely is different for everybody. But the odds of feeling the best are right around 17 weeks.

you're probably right-17w is probably the best of all times. but if you haven't been feeling well up until then it's a toss up.
as for driving vs. flying-don't forget that flying will mess with swelling. you'll probably be still early enough that swelling won't be much of an issue but you'll have to keep in mind that you need to stay hydrated while flying. it's less time sitting but also 36k+ miles in the sky.
.
Oh yeah very true. I'll have to remember and keep that in mind.
Thank you
DH and I decided to go ahead and purchase the tickets and add the insurance just in case. It's worth it for $11 per person.
Thanks again ladies for all the input I appreciate it
