Car seat recommendations

We've reached that point where Logan absolutely needs new car seats and hopefully we get some gift cards at his birthday this weekend to take some of the sting off the price tag. :) Anyone love their car seats? Idealy we'd like a convertible seat.

Re: Car seat recommendations

  • Evenflo triumph advance. I love the strap adjustment. After using different seats I've come to appreciate the straps even more. It is going to be a sad day soon when I have to stop using it in my car. We already have in DH's and I hate the one we have in comparison. Oh and evenflo is reasonably priced.

  • I am beyond happy with our Britax Marathon. EJ has been using it since she was around 1 (rear facing) and now she is just past 5 and still fits into it.  It is easy to disconnect as the latch buckles have a button release. We also have a Graco Nautilus in DH's car. I can't recall if it does rear facing though. But it is satisfactory. Safe, comfortable and way more affordable plus converts to a booster.  But she had been in a Britax Decathlon in his car before we got the graco. The thing that bothers me the most with it are really the latch clips. But I suppose we are going to have to stop using those soon so maybe I will stop complaining :o)
  • Both of my daughters have Britax Roundabouts.  We've been really happy with them.  They are easy to install and have good safety ratings.

Totally agree with this. Originally we got the Evenflo for DH's car and I just got a Cosco Scenera. Hate, hate, hated that stupid seat and had car seat envy over DH's:P It got to the point that I couldn't adjust the straps in the Scenera anymore, so we now both have the Triumph's in our cars. Amazon usually has good deals and I got our first one on Albee Baby's site.

  • Ditto the evenflo triumph suggestions; we used one with Jake until we needed the seats for Liam, then used them with Liam until we got the van (when RF'ing in the van, the shape of the seats in the car make it way too difficult to tighten the straps, due to the crank) but the crank was definitely my favorite feature; LIam is in a graco in the van now and while the seat is fine, I just feel like it's more difficult to tighten the straps using that crotch strap than it is to just turn a crank.

  • We are on our second set of Evenflo seats.  (Noah is just that much older than Brody that most of his seats expired shortly after Brody could use them).  We've been very happy with all of them.
  • If you do end up going Graco, Walmart sells 2 packs and it brings the cost down a bit: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Choose-2-Mix-and-Match-Graco-MyRide-Convertible-Car-Seats/20668803
  • I am a Britax fan.  We have 2 Marathons in my car, and a Roundabout and an Evenflo Triumph in Rich's car.  My parent's have an Evenflo Triumph and a Graco Nautilus - they have never had any complaints, but I must be too used to the Britax because after using them regularly last week, I seriously hated them.  The straps always seemed to get twisted, and I wasn't happy with how tight/loose you could adjust them.  But apparently it's just me since I seem to be in the minority!  I would test some out at BRU to get a good feel for the different seats.
  • Ditto the evenflo.
