WTH is a lotus birth and why the hell would someone do this?!?!
dx: Unexplained IF (mild MFI)
TTC since May 2011, 1 year trying, and then 3 TI, 2 IUI = BFN
IVF #1 (May 2013): Antagonist Protocol:24R, 18M, 15F w/ICSI; 5dt of 2 early blasts, no frosties = BFN
IVF #2 (August 2013): Lupron Stop Protocol:
28R, 23M, 15F w/ICSI; 5dt of 1 partially hatched blast, 7 frosties = BFP
EDD 5/23/14, blighted ovum (6w6d), D&C (8w6d)
FET #1 (April 2014): transferred 2 5d blasts = BFP

A lotus birth is when you give birth and do not cut the umbilical cord, ever. They keep it attached to the placenta and let it naturally fall off. They wrap the placenta in cloth and carry it around with the baby until the cord falls off.
It's effing nasty! A friend of mine is a doula and when she was training she went to a friends birth who did this. She said they carried the placenta around in cloth diapers for like a week and anyone who held the baby had to hold the placenta next to the baby. She's really crunchy but this freaked her out.
I can't get over the fact that the banner on the top has a picture of the baby coming out of her....
I'm not a crunchy gal, but to each their own. This kind of weirds me out though.

I consider myself crunchier than most, but I see no reason to do this. Bleh.
