Re: *~*~*Healthy Living Check-In*~*~*

  • What are your current:

Successes? I lost 4lbs this week! It was my first week back at Weight Watchers (online)

Struggles? Just the thought of going back to the gym makes me want to take a nap on the couch...I wish I had something that I loved to do for exercise!

Plans for the week? Eating healthy and within my points. Making some healthy but still delicious new recipes for dinner this week. I'm going to try, very hard to go to the gym at least once this week.

Goals? Loose 40lbs, get stronger, feel better about myself.

Which of these lifestyle choices are you making, and how? Eating healthy and drinking plenty of water. Doing these by following the WW plan.

Which ones are you hoping to make, and how will you make these changes?

I'd love to reduce stress and exercise, which actually are supposed to go together nicely, so maybe once I start working out, I will be slightly less stressed out!

    GTKY:

~What's your favorite website for healthy recipes? Skinny Taste

~Where do you buy your clothes for exercising? I usually just go to Old Navy or TJMaxx. I don't like to spend a lot of $ on clothes that I'm going to sweat in!

~What's your favorite type of exercise? Don't really have one....I'm trying to find something that I actually enjoy doing.

    Plans for the week?

This week is going to be rough because Im on the road alot for work but Im trying to go to the gym at least 4 times this week and eat healther

    Goals?

I would love to lose 50lbs, my doc wants me at a healthier weight for when we TTC because Im already high risk with my Heart condition.

Successes? I've been eating very healthy (and even getting H to eat healthy!) H has high blood pressure so most of the meals I cook are very low-sodium and low-fat for his benefit (and mine, indirectly)

Struggles? I'm actually trying to gain a little weight, or at least not lose any more. I've always been thin/at a healthy weight, but the last couple weeks I've lost weight without meaning to and am now in the underweight range for my height. I think part of it is because I went off BCP (I gained weight when I went on it and it pretty much dropped off immeditately after I stopped).

Plans for the week? Continue to eat healthy and throw in some extra healthy snacks to try and gain back a few pounds. This week is crazy busy so it's going to be difficult

Goals? Continue to eat healthy and not stress out as much, and maybe workout once a week (baby-steps, lol)

Gain back a few pounds without turning to fatty, non-nutritous food.

Sleep more/better... not sure how I can accomplish the 'better' part, but I really need to start getting more sleep. I keep waking up several times during the night, and it's starting to drag me down.

Which of these lifestyle choices are you making, and how?

Eating healthy and drinking plenty of water (it's pretty much all I drink besides coffee and milk)

Which ones are you hoping to make, and how will you make these changes?

Reduce stress (yes please) and exercise. I'm really bad at sticking to an exercise routine. I'll go through a phase where I exercise consistently and then i just won't for months. Since I don't want to lose anymore weight, I'm not exactly motivated to workout more right now, ha

~What's your favorite website for healthy recipes? Skinnytaste

    I made these yesterday:

    http://www.skinnytaste.com/2013/02/healthy-cookies.html

They were really yummy and such an easy/healthy snack. I added a few dashes of cinammon and some vanilla extract.

(If you try them, just keep in mind that they aren't going to taste like a sugar cookie. But I still thought they were really good and they satisfied my sweets craving last night)

~Where do you buy your clothes for exercising?

I wear T-shirts that I've gotten for free somewhere (mostly from college) and old shorts or sweatpants. I can't remember the last time I actually bought workout clothes.

~What's your favorite type of exercise?

I enjoy running and working with free weights.

  • Successes?: I'm still down 15lbs from the beginning of the year!

Struggles? This past week was a HUGE struggle! I barely tracked my WW points and ate crap all week. I gained a pound, but I am so glad it was only one pound!

Plans for the week? I'm working on getting back on track this week. Especially since H & I are going away this weekend and are going to a nice restaurant on Saturday. I want to make sure that I can enjoy it!

Goals? I was going to start working out last week, but only did Monday thanks to a TERRIBLE visit from Aunt Flo. So I'm going to try and work out at least 3x this week. I did this morning so I'm off to a good start!

Which of these lifestyle choices are you making, and how? I drink a good amount of water now but could drink more. I'm also trying to start working out regularly

Which ones are you hoping to make, and how will you make these changes? LESS STRESS!!

~What's your favorite website for healthy recipes? Since starting WW I would say SkinnyTaste & Emily Bites

~Where do you buy your clothes for exercising? Target, except for my sports bras which I buy at D*ck's (the only athletic store near us) because I need some major control there

~What's your favorite type of exercise? Zumba!

  • What are your current:

Successes? H and I have managed to eliminate soda from our everyday diet. This seems like a small victory, but it is huge because we got into such a pattern with it. We now save it for when we eat out, which isn't often either.

Struggles? I am at the highest weight I have ever been. I need to get back to working out, but I hate it. When I was 17, I was so tiny, but even then I felt big! I was in a size 6 juniors my senior year which was big compared to my size 0 friends, but I now realize that I was all hip. Now...I have a problem. Haha...

Plans for the week?  Starting the journey to healthy living today!

Goals? I want to work out at least 2 days this week for roughly half an hour. This does not seem big, but it has been at least a year since I had a work-out routine and I intend to bump it every week.

I found this diagram for the ways to live a healthy lifestyle. Which of these lifestyle choices are you making, and how? Which ones are you hoping to make, and how will you make these changes?

We do eat healthy and I am a water addict, but I need to work on reducing stress, eliminating high toxins and exercising.  I'm going to start with exercise. I'll work on stress soon, but I am in the midst of switching jobs...so...hahaha.

    GTKY:

~What's your favorite website for healthy recipes?

Skinnytaste has some great ones, but I found you can really make anything healthy if you try.

~Where do you buy your clothes for exercising?

I use whatever old t-shirt I have and is comfortable and then whatever pants are cheap. I have a bunch now that need some love.

~What's your favorite type of exercise?

I love dance. It is the reason I was so small in high school. I was on a dance company and danced 20+ hrs a week and did roughly 2-10 shows on weekends. It was killer and I was fit. I managed to injure myself at 17 and had to stop. I really need to lose the weight to help my feet/ankles, but they has prevent me from it as well. I've done physical therapy, etc. and the verdict wasn't great. I struggle with arthritis on a daily basis. Enter my excuse for my weight today.

Great job on elimiating soda, that's a great way to cut out some calories! Commiting to working out 2 days a week is a great way to start an exercise routine. Hopefully it will help with the stress too!

  • What are your current:

Successes? I have no idea!  H and I have been going to the gym pretty routinely except while I had laryngitis for a month.  We tend to work out 3-4 days a week for an hour.  Saturday I started my first "Women's Self Defense" class and it was great.  Learned SO much and did a huge amount of cardio.  Felt the pain on Sunday though!

Struggles? H and I are in such a bad eating rut it drives me crazy.  Seems like this happens a couple of times a year, mainly in winter months.  Feel just plan fat and bloated all the time right now.  BLAH

Plans for the week? H and I are once again starting our soup/salad diet.  We did this almost for an entire year prior to the wedding and it was amazing how good we felt.  We eat only sandwichs for lunch, soup/salad for dinner, fruit/vegies for snacks and nuts too.  Then on the weekends we let ourselves have fun again and eat foods we really like.  Work 5, Play 2...seems fair to us!

    Goals? Loose 20lbs.

Which of these lifestyle choices are you making, and how? Going to start our better eating habits that we definately fell out of once again.  Cutting out sugar (bye bye Girl Scout Thin Mints) and keeping up our gym routine.

Which ones are you hoping to make, and how will you make these changes?

I really hope all of them our met soon!

    GTKY:

~What's your favorite website for healthy recipes? I don't really have one.  I just "window shop" every now and then when I run out of ideas!

~Where do you buy your clothes for exercising? I hate shopping and especially for workout clothes.  I found a new sports bra this weekend if this counts for anything.  It actually made my day!

~What's your favorite type of exercise? I love classes (yoga, kick boxing, etc).  I seem to do a lot better with classes and loved my kick boxing class.  WOW burn the calories!  When I'm on my own, I usually do a lot of elliptical and freeweights.

The working out - reducing stress thing actually does seem to work together pretty well.  I know I ALWAYS feel better after working out, but it is hard to get motivated to get there.  For me it's a matter of me feeling really really guilty when I don't go.  Everyone always tells me that I should "want" to go.  Hmmm...I don't want to go after a long day at work and sweat and look awful in front people.  Nope, no want.  Rather, a, you should, pushes me.  Guilt is a beautiful thing for me and working out!

Exactly! There's no way I'd be thinking, on my 40 minute drive home from work, "wow I can't wait to go to the gym tonight!" lol But it's the "I should go" that will get me there.

I find the only time that works for me is in the morning. I'll occassionally slip in a jumping jacks/crunches/push ups routine when I get home from work and change from my work clothes into sweats but finding the motivation for a real workout is impossible. I'm also not a morning person. I have to set two alarms and ask H to call me otherwise I'll never get out of bed!

I used to do that...got up super early, went to the gym, showered and left from there to go to work, but now with my commute being 3 times as long, I can't (ok I won't) get there in the morning.

I'm thinking that if I bring my work out clothes with me to work, and drive straight to the gym after work, that it might be better for me. That way I don't have a chance to sit down on the couch, where I might be tempted to stay for the rest of the night lol

Yeah, once I'm on the couch there's no hope for me! I'm also lucky that we have a treadmill so I don't have to travel to the gym! We got ours for pretty cheap at Walmart and it's not too bad.

  • Successes?

    - So, I've been training for a 10 mile marathon in April and I recently got up to 3.5 miles!

    Struggles?

    - I have never been a runner. It has been really difficult to keep up the positive attitude. I keep thinking there is no way I will be able to run a whole 10 miles in one day and be able to walk the next.

    Plans for the week?

    - Continue to run the best I can.

    Goals?

    - Just keep running!

I found this diagram for the ways to live a healthy lifestyle. Which of these lifestyle choices are you making, and how? Which ones are you hoping to make, and how will you make these changes? - I've been exercising regularly, drinking water, and eating healthy

Thats great that you're training for a 10 mile marathon! Good job on the 3.5 miles! You'll get up to the 10 miles, just keep at it :)

I always forget about Kohls! Thanks for reminding me, I'll have to check them out for some new work out gear :)
