I'm thinking about surprising my DH with a weekend trip to Vegas. We've never been. Any recommendations for a nice hotel, nothing too pricey, but nothing cheap and dirty. Thanks in advance!
We will be traveling there the last week of April.

Re: Las Vegas Recs?
For your first trip to Vegas I'd recommend staying as close to the center of the Strip (the intersection of Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd.) as possible and not staying off-Strip, just for convenience. Hotels in Vegas can vary a LOT in price from night to night depending on whether they're hosting any events, so I usually start by doing a hotel search at Vegas.com to see how the prices look, then I usually book through the hotel itself. Also keep in mind that prices can change, so keep an eye on them even after you book. As long as you do it through the hotel you can usually cancel up to a few days before your trip with no penalty.
The prices for what I'm guessing are your dates aren't amazing, but they're not bad. Which one you pick depends on your budget. The Venetian seems to be the best deal. I have a post in my blog with reviews of the Vegas hotels I've stayed in, but the only central ones in there are Bellagio and Aria, and I think they're both overpriced for your dates.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.

We went there on our honeymoon and got a great room at the Flamingo... it was a good price, and was an awesome "home base." The best thing about Vegas is that you can enjoy all the hotels without staying there... we spent a lot of time in Caesar's Palace. It wasn't as busy as the rest of the hotels we passed through, and the location was perfect. Right across the street is Serendipity and their breakfast was great. Go see Absinthe absolutely!
We upgraded to one of the Go rooms and I definitely would suggest it. It's not that big of a price difference and I hear that the older ones are well, older. I think that we got upgraded to a room since we were on our honeymoon, with a view and it was awesome. But I don't know if I would have paid more for it.
We also considered NYNY and we're glad we didn't, because it was farther off than it seemed. We also really liked the inside of Tropicana, but it was a pretty long trek, so I wouldn't want to stay there.
Don't stay at the Stratosphere. Try to stay as close to mid-Strip as possible.

Thanks for the input ladies! I think we narrowed it down to TI and Monte Carlo. Most likely TI because a bunch of people have recommended it.
I will also take dining/buffet/casino/show recs!
