Do you have to travel for work? Does DH?
my read shelf:
Re: QOTD 3/6
Every once in a while I'll have to travel for a day or two, but it's usually to Dallas which is only about 3.5hrs away from Austin, so it's not too bad.
H used to travel a lot with his old job and I hated it! He was pretty much gone 5-0-75% of the time the last few months of planning the wedding, so that was the hardest part. He actually works with me now, so if either of us goes anywhere, we can go together
DH and I usually travel about once a year for work. He goes to a Physician Assistant conference one week a year and I go to a neuroscience conference once a year.
I'm actually traveling in 2 weeks for a neuroscience advocacy trip to Capitol Hill. I'm really excited about it!
I travel occasionally to our other facilities. I was just in our Nashville facility for a week and I went to Dallas last June. I actually enjoy it when I get to go.
H doesn't travel at all.
No and No.
I work in a highschool so they dont send us anywhere, if there is a conference we need to attend its usually in the same county.
DH commutes around 2 hours everyday to work but they dont send him anywhere. Im not sure what will happen when he actually gets an engineering job in the future but for now the answer is no.
I haven't traveled for work in a couple of years but my current position doesn't require me to travel. My previous job required me to go to our sister sites to train new team members.
H is an over the road truck driver so he travels 5-6 days a week. He wants to get a more local job, still driving but he has been having a difficult time trying to find something since he doesnt have his hazmats, tankers, or twic card. If he did, I have a friend who could help him find a job where they work but he isnt ready to take that next step.
I am not working right now so no.
Dh is a mechanic for the bus company, so he only travels to and from lol...
mind you in 2010 he had to go to an international union meeting in Disney World, that worked out nicely, he took DS and I with him... what a blast... he might have to to go San Diego next Jan.

We shouldn't, I have sporadically. For my primary employer, I have traveled all of twice in 13 years. Six years ago I spent 4 days in Georgia. Two years ago I spent 2 and 1/2 weeks in the Philippines. It was the opportunity of a lifetime for me, and I enjoyed it! They even paid for my passport (although, now, to update to my married name I have to pay for the same cost out of pocket! Wow!).
I worked secondary jobs for about seven years. For one of those, I co-facilitated a class. We traveled for training every summer to a different part of the state. That was nice, and the last few years I was there I was able to bring my boys - they enjoyed the lodge and its pool while I 'enjoyed' training
