Post wedding/Chicago exhaustion (long ass post)

Wow. What a whirlwind weekend.

Flight stuff: If you can afford a seat for a toddler get it. I couldn't imagine not having a seat after maybe 18 months. If he was on my lap or his carseat for that matter he'd just be able to kick the seat if ahead. Also he wouldn't have been able to use the tray table.

I know this is subjective and personality related. But m was great about just sitting in the seat with a seatbelt on at times leaning on us to get coozy. The change in pressure did not bother him however both of his parents were totally car sick feeling. Hahaha. We did let him watch tv on the kindle at all times but also rotated in target dollar toys and books so he'd flip through those.   The plane was small/loud enough that he didn't need earphones and I couldn't hear the kindle right next to him.

I did like having a stroller in the airport. Being this pregnant it was easier when we were almost late for our flight to be able to walk fast etc and not have to carry him. Philly's airport is so clutch with secruity the TSa agent complimented us on how quickly we got through with a kid. Ha. Midway is like a cluster with secruity. It made me really thankful for philly.

Chicago /wedding stuff:

we did public transport and walking the whole time.  It snowed everyday we were there. It was cold. Luckily we had one of those sleeping bags/bundlers for m. Their PT is good but because I didn't know it perfectly and google maps was a pain in the ass I got lost a couple if times. I may have had hormonal tears when that happened. I hate being lost.

Wedding went well it was courthouse with family, us, best man and after couple of her phd school friends came to bowling and restaurant. I thought my BFf was going to throw up with nerves. Holy *** she was pale and shaky as hell during the 7 min ceremony. Omg. When it was over and she turned and smiled at me I was like omg thank god.

Saturday they hosted a brunch at their apartment it was their families and us. They exchanged vows they wrote which were so sweet. I may have cried. After vows and toasts, my BFF is like oh it's awkward and quiet so milo broke it up by taking a crap. Oh milo.

M got a playmate with my bff's neice too which was perfect for them.

  • I wound up with blue. I don't think I have a picture. Haha. I got it on sale from bhldn in regular person size.
  • Sounds like fun!  Cute pic of the B&G.
  • Glad you had a great time overall and I'm glad M was good on the plane.

Re: Plane seat for a toddler - Yeah that is why I said in my other post that at 19 months, I would have bought Danica a seat because she is a maniac and to sit on our laps at 19 months would be crazy (at least for us). It's worth every penny, IMO.

  • You resemble your BFF, based on pictures I have seen of you!  Milo is a cutie!  Sounds like a good week end overall!
  • I also love that M brought a little Philly to Chi-town with his SEPTA shirt. :)

Lol I am sure people have sweet short children who will sit on laps not kick etc. Clearly not ours.

i knew my BFF and her h would be so excited for it. And they were. He also had a Bowtie to match his septa uniform!

  • You're a good friend for flying to an iceberg pregnant & with a 2 year old for a 7 minute ceremony.

I'm sure you're so glad you did and I'm sure she was too, but whew! That's a lotta work!

lol. The ceremony was very short but Long wedding day! Between all activities. Luckily both her sisters are pregnant too. And her one sister with the almost three year old is two weeks behind me. So I had someone to commiserate with!  They are from San Fran and rented a car since they barely had winter clothes for themselves.

We slightly regretted not renting a car for a few things since my BFF lives like 45 mins outside of downtown where we stayed.  I wouldn't have minded driving to and from airport too!

  • Aw, I saw some of your pics on Facebook and thought the B&G were super cute.  Love their wedding day style!  And her blue tights are adorable in that one pic.

Glad you had fun even though it was frigid.

And did you get a deep dish pizza?  That's the only reason I want to visit chi-town. Haha.

Ha no pizza! When we travel we do indulge in the most insane breakfasts though.
  • Glad you all survived and had s nice time! The bride and groom are adorable. Love her tights!

  • congrats to your bestie and glad you guys had a great time!  hopefully the chilliness will have prepared you for what we're (supposedly) getting hit with tomorrow.
  • Thanks for the update and glad all went well. I called to get a seat for Z for our FL trip in May on Southwest. The infant fare was more than ours! We're going to go with the lap carry and bring the carseat. Hopefully an open seat heading down there off season.  Next time, he gets his own seat for sure!

haha. I totally ordered him a regular person fare because the 10 off child fare was a pain in the ass!

  • That is awesome you had such a great time and M did so well!  I love Chicago, what a great city!

Ditto LD, you are a great friend
