Has anyone used Hotwire.com?

We are looking for a hotel to stay at while we are in Cali, I am scared to get one that is cheap and that it may have bed bugs or somethings.

I went on hotwire yesterday and they have some good deals but my problem is that they do not show you the hotels.

Anyone have any insight on this? Do they show the hotel after you pay? Can you recommend a hotel in or around Los Angeles that's nice and not so expensive?

TIA Ladies :)

Re: Has anyone used Hotwire.com?

  • You can usually figure it out as they give you the area of the hotel and stars. I've never had a problem using it but we generally can narrow down which hotels it might be.

I've just never been to Cali before so I don't know the area at all. Do you think I could just google the are or something to narrow down which hotels they are?

  • Finally something I can help with! We almost exclusively use hotwire now. We always do 2, 2.5, or 3 stars. They tell you what kind of hotels fall into that star range and you pick the area where your hotel is (like north Atlanta, south Atlanta, ect) They tell you right after you book it which hotel you are getting. We've always gotten nice hotels when we've booked- nicer then we would have gotten otherwise.

This! We used it and got a super nice hotel for the price.  They don't tell you before so they don't 'de-value' the brand and the high rates they can normally charge!! I love it.

Thank you SB and NLTB :) that's exactly what I needed to know, this makes me confident now in booking with them.

    Thanks again :)
