So I (like an idiot) mentioned to MIL when we were moving that I might want to have Easter. So she calls to say, "oh, what are you guys doing for Easter" aka "We want you to make us dinner for Easter."
I wanted to have Easter for my family, since my grandad just died- I don't want my grandmother cooking the day after his birthday for Easter without him, ya know? But when you add in N's family you're adding another 8 people, in addition to the 7-9 I'd be inviting. Oh, and now his cousin wants to bring her new boyfriend, so add on to that.
SO what the hell. We'll just have a big old Easter. Mind you we don't have furniture in our front living room yet- but let's pray it's warm enough for people to go outside and out of my way. N doesn't cook at all, so he's no help, and MIL will just be in my damn way.
Okay, rant over. Now.....what do you make for Easter? I am not taking suggestions from MIL because I am not doing this her way...it's mine now.
I'm going to do ham...and what else!!??
Re: Easter
Yikes. That sounds like a sh!tton of fun.
I would find other things for N to do before hand so you dont have to do them.
We always have ham, deviled eggs, potato salad, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, sometimes sweet potatoes. Its pretty much Thanksgiving dinner with ham instead of turkey.
We are hoping no one in our families makes plans because we will be hightaling down to the beach to surf fish for the day. Obviously only if the weather is nice.
Oh yeh. He's not totally useless, just in the kitchen. I will make him clean and watch the kid, and move furniture, and be my b*tch! Lol. He knows what he's in for.
Also, I need to find enough dishes to use- lol. I'm not really wanting to use paper, but I don't think I have enough plates. We might have to have some people use the smaller plates and some use the regular size plates. (not bread plates...maybe they're called salad plates?)
haha WOW that's a lot of people! I thought about having it at my house, but that would mean my sister would have to come over, and let's face it - it's been 2 years so I'm sure she'll make an excuse not to come...
I usually go help mama cook. We have ham, coleslaw, shells and cheese, deviled eggs, this pineapple bread thing, green beans (canned from dad's garden), corn, maybe mashed potatoes, and brown and serve rolls. I might attempt to make homemade dinner rolls.
They have some really nice platic plates at Dollar Tree that would be a cheap easy fix. My MIL keeps some for eating on the patio outside and for the kids. If they break or get funky she tosses them.
Haha my mom's dishes are so mismatched, and it's a game, who's plate did this use to be? Gma/aunt/sister/etc haha.
