Re: ~~~**Healthy Living Check In***~~~

  • Struggle: I only worked out on Monday. Not quite where I want to be but it's one more day than I had been doing before. Next week I'm going to try for two days and build from there.

Success: I am back on track with my points. I try to plan ahead for the week so I can use my extra points carefully and it helps me deal with any surprises (like cake at work). It looks like I should be under my points for the week which includes dinner out with H tomorrow night!

What are you plans for staying healthy this weekend? I'm going away with H this weekend!! It's supposed to be nice so I'm hoping we'll do some walking downtown and of course get some in-between-the-sheets exercise ;-) Food wise I'm just going to track my points and try to be reasonably good

Do you/will you reward yourself after you've completed a goal? what's your reward going to be? New clothes! I had to buy new pants last week because the old ones kept falling off. :)

Hi! The last couple days I've actually started to sleep better (waking up once during the night instead of 3 or 4 times), so hopefully that continues!  Thanks for asking!

Successes: I gained a pound! ...which I know doesn't really count, but I'm just glad I didn't lose any more weight :)

Struggles: I had no time to fit in a workout this week (unless I woke up earlier, which was not an option considering my total lack of sleep lately)

What are you plans for staying healthy this weekend? NONE, because my dad's birthday is tomorrow and my and H's birthday is on Monday (we have the same B-day). We're practically going to be eating out every day this weekend with various friends and family members, and there will be multiple cakes and desserts involved. Soooo, I have no plans to be healthy this weekend, and it's the one time a year that I'm ok with that  :)

Do you/will you reward yourself after you've completed a goal? what's your reward going to be? No, not really. My reward is knowing I did something good for myself and that I'm staying healthy

    Successes: None :(

Struggles: Trying to eat healthy while working crazy!

What are you plans for staying healthy this weekend? I have a feeling its going to be hard!

Do you/will you reward yourself after you've completed a goal? what's your reward going to be? Im not sure, but I know we want to TTC once I get back on the healthy train, so I guess that is a good goal! :)

YAY for pants that are falling off!! lol I have the same reward idea for myself, new clothes always feel great when I'm feeling healthy!

Also, great job planning your points ahead of time!

There's always next week for the gym, I'm glad you have a plan!

Weekends are SO hard for healthy eating, it's always my hardest couple of days.

  • Soup/Salad diet is going great.  I guess I don't have any new receipes - darn it.  I just keep making my same old same old.  Hoping to find some new ones this weekend.  If you have any great ones (anyone!) I would love to know...

Successes:  Even with working 10-12 hours everyday for the past month (tax season1) I have managed to make it to the gym 3 times this week.  Have a self defense class tomorrow and will work out after that.

Struggles:  Work is crazy busy this time of year, so I'm just trying to do the best I can right now.  Guess that's all I can hope for.

What are you plans for staying healthy this weekend?  H and I have always taken the weekend "off" when we are watching what we eat.  We figure if we don't we'll seriously go crazy, so we tend to eat meals on the weekends.  We don't go nuts, but we do take a break from the soup/salad. (unless it's a trip to Olive Garden for soup and salad!)

Do you/will you reward yourself after you've completed a goal? what's your reward going to be?  I'm not sure we've really "rewarded" ourselves.  I guess we probably do a little shopping at some point, but I guess we don't give ourselves goals.  For us it's more a matter of just trying to get back to healthy and staying healthy.  Always the goal.

Nice work getting to the gym even with your insane work hours!

I made a WW soup that I really love. It's simple too:

    8 cup(s) reduced-sodium chicken broth
1 tsp table salt, or more to taste
1/2 tsp black pepper, freshly ground (or more to taste)
4 medium uncooked carrot(s), thinly sliced into rounds
1 medium uncooked fennel bulb(s), thinly sliced and then chopped (or to taste)
    1 cup(s) uncooked orzo
2 cup(s) (chopped) cooked skinless, boneless chicken breast(s)
    1/4 cup(s) fresh lemon juice
3 Tbsp dill, fresh ,chopped, divided (or more to taste)

    Instructions

    • In a large soup pot, combine broth, salt and pepper; bring to a boil over high heat.

    • Add carrots, fennel and orzo; bring to a boil.

    • Reduce heat to low and simmer, partially covered, until orzo and vegetables are tender, about 8 to 10 minutes.

    • Stir in chicken; cook until heated through.

    • Remove pot from heat; stir in lemon juice and dill. Yields about 1 1/4 cups per serving.

  • Successes: I'm still sticking with WW and searching for healthy and delicious recipes. I made almost all new recipes for dinner this week!

Struggles: Although I went to the gym and ate well this week, I didn't loose any weight. I'm trying to not think about it, and just focus on how I'm feeling instead of what the scales says.

What are you plans for staying healthy this weekend? I use my extra points on weekends so I eat whatever I want for dinner on Saturday night. Sunday I'll be going to the grocery store and stocking up on some healthy things for the week. I'm also going to go to the gym on Sunday.

Do you/will you reward yourself after you've completed a goal? what's your reward going to be? New clothes...maybe I'll do a facial/massage/manicure type of things for mini goals!

Thanks for the soup recipe Christine.  I will def try this week for dinner.  Sounds like it has enough spice to it without all the ingredients.  Love that!

Nice job on eating great this week as well as sticking with the WW points. I personally think, forget the scale.  I know a lot of people live for their scales (my boss is one of them), but honestly, I threw mine out years ago because I just kept getting pi**ed off all the time with the ups and downs of it.  I go by how I feel and how my clothes feel.  For me, its much more productive to just pay attention to what I'm eating (and in some cases, not eating!) and how much exercise I'm getting.  You will know when your losing weight, trust me.  The ups and downs began to depress the heck out of me and that became a slipperly slope:  depression (for me) = eating more & exercising less.  You have to do what feels right and what works for you, which is different for all of us!

  • I did get a workout in! H and I went for a really nice long walk in this week. I didn't get the second day I planned yet, but maybe tomorrow! This week was killer with student issues...

Successes: We went on a gorgeous, couple mile walk.

Struggles: Energy to keep doing it/time.

What are you plans for staying healthy this weekend?

More walks--the weather should help with this.

Do you/will you reward yourself after you've completed a goal? what's your reward going to be?

    Lunch out next weekend.
