Finally home!

What started out as a great weekend away with the hubby quickly went south! Friday we got into Calgary and went to ikea! Got everything we wanted and then some then we headed to a mall to do some shopping before my friend that we were staying with got off work. We finished shopping and left and hubby was driving and I said 'geeze your truck is loud'. Hubby goes oh it's just cold (it's a diesel). So after drivin an hour through this city we finally get where we're goin and hubby's truck is still obnoxiously loud. He opens the door and shuts it off and gets a puzzled look on his face 'something doesn't sound right' ' he says. So he leaves the door open and starts the truck again. Looks underneath and a two foot section of his exhaust system is missing. Just gone!

its some diesel specific filter that has platinum and palladium in it. Guys are stealing them and selling them! 6 bolts is all that's holding this bloody filter on. So we go down to a police station and file a report.

Saturday morning we call our dealership at home to see if we can drive the truck home.. We're 6 hours away... They say probably no, that won't work, they couldn't get a hold of the service manager, but if they do they'll have him call. Okay fine, we need to figure out how we're gettin home. Hubby also calls a dealership in the city we're in, do they have the part we need? Have they heard of this happening? Oh yeah! That one dealership in a city of a million people is getting 20-30 calls a week about this happening. There's $hit all  he can do for us.

Plan b! FIL has a truck... And a trailer! Do him and MIL Wanna take a drive? Luckily they do! They got there last night with FIL's one ton truck  and a trailer and we loaded up this morning and headed home.

Later yesterday afternoon our local service manager called back, oh yeah this is a big problem! In our little town of 15000, they've had 8 of these disappear right  off the dealership lot! He's heard of guys in other cities getting totally cleaned out overnight!

so ridiculous! Thank goodness for my amazing inlaws!

Kaite... it pretty much is for things like Ikea. I live basically smack in the middle of Saskatchewan on the #1. 2 hours to the east is Regina (where i'm from), shopping is decent, but they don't have an Ikea, or any good outlet shopping, and 2 hours to the west is Medicine Hat, and the shopping there isn't great. So from Medicine Hat you drive the extra 3 hours (I guess I was only 5 hours from home not 6) and you get some really good shopping.
