I feel frumpy.

Since I'm breast feeding (and only 5 weeks postpartum), my wardrobe is shhitt.  A girl can only wear so many zip up hoodies and nursing tanks, ya know?  So...nursing moms or anyone that likes to flop out a titty once in a while...what the hell do I wear?? Like, I have a baby shower to attend next weekend.  Nothing fits.  Anything that does fit doesn't allow access to feed the baby.  I'm so lost lol. Anyone want to tell me how to do this and still look decent? Maybe provide some links or tell me where to shop? Who wants to spend my money for me? I'm feeling icky.

Re: I feel frumpy.

  • I am still BFing E at almost a year...I totally feel your pain about the nothing to wear. I had a baby shower to go to a few weeks after E was born as well and honestly I just wore a regular shirt and pulled it up. I had a cover on but it was hot as heck. At that shower I just wore a cute spring skirt (that had an elastic waist) and a looser fitting v-neck. I didn't really care what I wore. That being said I did buy some ON maternity/nursing gear before E was born and I hated it. I bought my normal M size and it fit like a tent. F'ing huge!! Sorry if that isn't much help but I say go comfortable. Get some nice tees that you can dress up or down and maybe a cute maxi skirt/dress. That should hold you over until you can get past PP and start getting your body back.
No....click me!!!! Cause I'm the wedding bio! Bloggin it up! Prince Charming stole my heart and we rode off on his white horse... • I bought some "nursing shirts" after v was born and they covered well, but didn't fit well. Not a fan.

I usually wear a wrap type shirt under a normal shirt so I can pull up the normal shirt and pop my boob out the wrap shirt. The bottom of the top shirt covers my boob for the most part and the bottom shirt covers my belly.

FWIW, I think you look great though! :)

  • I feel ya! I wear a stretchy cami type tank without the shelf bra under all of my regular shirts.  I pull them down and pull my regular shirt up.  I have never found any nursing shirts that had a good fit.  Heels, jeans and a decent fitting T with fun jewelry are my go-to with a 6 month old.

Change up the zip up to a cardigan, sweater, or something with a bit more structure, that always helps me feel a bit more put together.

  • FWIW, you don't look frumpy or icky <3

  • I also liked to do button ups with a stretchy cami underneath when I was breastfeeding for easy access.

I also don't think you look frumpy at all. I actually was just a bit jealous just now when I saw a pic of you on FB that you look so cute and put-together so soon after having a baby!

  • Thanks guys. Critti, drillers...y'all be crazy, but I so appreciate it.  I am going to look for a few thing tomorrow!! Wish me luck!

I'm not crazy--I've seen you IRL and you look great!   But it's important that you feel good too, I hope you find some new things tomorrow, happy shopping!

  • I hosted a shower at about 6 weeks pp. I wore a tank style dress that was loose enough up top to pull down and BF. Since it was spring when DS was born, I did a lot of cardigans over tanks or button downs. My uniform was a white or chambray button down with cute shorts. I also wore bf friendly dresses.
