Hi all! I just found this board, though we were married 5 months ago!
I'm Linnae, I'm a high school science teacher in western mass (i live on the CT border) and my husband's awesome, but can be annoying because of his adult ADHD...He owns a tree service.
We got married 10-7-12 in Portland, CT, and went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon (I'm still shocked I got a week off in October!)
We have 3 dogs-2 pugs and a great dane who love each other. They sleep on any piece of furniture they can find and I have already burnt through 2 vaccums with their hair (seriously) oh well.
any questions from me? how were your weddings? where did you go for a honeymoon? Hows married life (I'm not going to lie, every time we check into a hotel or travel for anything I still wear one of my Bride shirts...honeymoon perks all year!!!)
Re: Introduction
Hi and Welcome!!! I think you'll like it here...October 2012 ladies are the best : )
I'm Nicole, DH and I were married 10.12.12 in Saratoga Springs, NY. We're originally from the Albany, NY area but right now we live in Rochester, NY. Our wedding was absolutely beautiful...I wish I could relive it a million times over! However, the planning process I would never EVER want to do again!
We took a mini moon to the Finger Lakes, but our real honeymoon will be to Italy hopefully in October (I have to wait to finish my Ph.D. first).
Married life is great, but not all that different for us. We're been dating since freshman year of high school (13 years!!!) and we lived together for about 4 years before we got married.
Hi and welcome!!!
I'm Heidi, Josh and I were married on 10-27-12. It was Halloween weekend and I had a few complaints from my friends, about messing up their party plans. After the wedding they all said that our reception was way wilder than any Halloween party would have been. Our wedding was beautiful and light hearted, we had a lot of fun. I just got my pictures last week, so I've been reliving that day in my head a lot lately!
We stayed 7 nights at an all inclusive resort in Jamaica. It was really scary when we pulled up, because it looked like a total crap hole, but it ended up being really nice! Not a Sandals or anything, but still nice. We had so much fun there!
Married life is great, it's so much better that living with the stress of wedding planning. I can't believe it was already 4 1/2 months ago!
You're going to love this board. All the girls on this board are awesome, and Cathy does an awesome job keeping the board going.
Hello, and welcome! I'm Chelsea and my husband and I got married the day before you, on October 6th. I can't believe we're nearly at the six month mark! We got married in upstate New York. I think I'm STILL working through it enough to answer "how was the wedding?" in an easy, non-complicated answer. But, we're married, so it was a success, how's that?
We went to Excellence Riviera Cancun for our honeymoon and it was AMAZING. I wish I was back every single day.
Married life in terms of the day-to-day isn't all that different, like some of the other girls have said, but also, we'd been living together for about five years by the time we got married, so that'll do it!
Welcome, welcome. I echo the sentiments, this is a board of a great group of ladies!
WELCOME!
I'm Amanda, but friends call me Mana. Jeff and I got married 6 Oct! I wish I could relive that day - it was AMAZING! I look at my pictures all the time.
We went to Excellence Punta Cana, Dominician Republic. OMG I dream we are back there all the time. I swear the workers are the nicest people ever. I have some as FB friends haha. I really wish we could go for our anniversary but we can't
We have a puggle named Hunter! I love the pug breeds. He's the laziest dog I've ever know.
Married life is good! I love just settling down since we've had a lot of life changes in the past 2 years.
Hi and welcome!!
I'm Cathy. Gary and I were married on 10/11. We had an amazing destination wedding in West Palm Beach, FL and then went to Sandals Grande Antigua for a week. We want to go back so bad!!
I love married life although it hasn't really changed anything.
As for the board, feel free to jump into the conversations; we don't bite here like some other boards.
Not to threadjack, but Mana, we probably realized this at the time, but I forgot/didn't know you went to an Excellence Resort! I was at Excellence Riviera Cancun in Puertos Morelos, Mexico. I know what you mean, I couldn't get over how friendly everyone was! I wish I'd thought to FB friend them, ha!
BAhaha I was going to comment but I didn't want to be the "one that forgot"! Omg SO FREAKING NICE! I wasn't sure if Mexico would be different (work no-no'd Mexico). There was one PR girl that would sit with me at the pool. I loved asking her questions about the culture, but it was funny when she didn't understand some english phrases. Then there was a bartender we went to EVERY.NIGHT. He was hilarious. UGH I WANNA GO BACK!
Did they always reply with Excellente when you asked how they were?! We still say that to each other. And I was more used to calling H esposo than husband!
Yes, everything was "Excellente!" Haha, too funny, I'd forgotten about that. What we keep joking about is the staff kept calling me Se?ora (My New Last Name). Which was actually really cute. But thing is, my new last name is an eastern European surname starting with a J that sounds pretty much as far from Spanish or Latin as you could, and pronouncing the J like you do in Spanish, like an H in English, certainly doesn't help! So sometimes DH will call me Se?ora (Ridiculous Sounding "Spanish"-ized Last Name), ha ha ha.
Hi and welcome!! My name is Jennifer, or Jen! My husband David and I got married on October 13th in Nashville, TN. We got married on my parents farm (the term is used loosely...their only animals are a dog and a cat!!), which made it super special. It was done all outside with lots of twinkling lights and gorgeous weather!! I want to re-live that day over and over!!
We went to the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas for our honeymoon! It was a lot of fun. We'd definitely go back, but there are other trips we'd like to take as well.
We live in Chattanooga, TN currently. We have a boxer/pitbull mix dog named Dutch who will be two sometime this summer! We got him on September 11, 2011. He's an absolute sweetheart, and definitely our baby!
Married life is good! Like so many of the other girls, not a whole lot of change. We'd been together for 6 years before the wedding and lived together ever since we got engaged.
Welcome Linnae!
My name is Samantha, H is Josh and we were married on October 13. Our ceremony was in Westchester county in NY and our reception was in the Bronx at a golf course. Everything was gorgeous and perfect!
We went on our honeymoon about 5 weeks after our wedding to Sandals Grande Antigua. It was the most amazing place I have ever been. H and I considered not returning. We definitely want to go on another fabulous vacation soon.
Being married is definitely different for H and I. We dated for almost 2 years when we got married and we lived together for about 3 months before the wedding. When I say it's different, I mean that in a good way.
Welcome. I'm Julie. My husband and I got married on 10/20. We left the next day for our honeymoon. We went to Florence and Rome. It was awesome! We actually ended up being in Rome 4 days longer than expected. We were supposed to fly back on 10/30, but that was when Hurricane Sandy hit and the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh airports were closed (our flight was from Rome to Philly to Pittsburgh). Luckily we knew before we left for the airport, and were able to stay an extra couple of days in the small hotel we were in, and then a couple of days in the owner's friend's hotel.
I turned 34 last month and my husband will be 34 the end of this month, and we are expecting our first baby in August! We are excited but nervous. It happened a little sooner than we thought it would (although the pregnancy is definately wanted - we had been talking about starting to try soon, and then I realized I was pregnant) and now we're trying to look for a new house and sell our current house before the baby gets here. It's added some extra stress, but I know it'll all work out eventually. If necessary, we can move after the baby is here, so we're not stressing too much. We'd rather wait if necessary to find a house we love rather than just settle for one.
Yup we were Senor and Senora Uges (OO-geez)... due tothe H = silent in spanish. Soo funny trying to get them to say it in english. I call H Mr Uges all the time.
Late to this thread, but hi! I'm Liz, my husband James and I were married on 10/6 otuside Albany, NY. We had an amazing wedding and I wouldn't change a thing about it. Our honeymoon was less perfect. We went on a cruise that was supposed to go to the Bahamas, but Hurricane Sandy showed up and did a number on our itinerary. Instead of going to the Bahamas, we outran the storm up the east coast! It was still fun though, and definitely memorable.
Being married doesn't feel much different overall, though I still get giddy about my new name and still find it novel that hey, I have a husband now! Sometimes we refer to each other as husband and wifey just because we like the sound of it. We have no kids yet, and our furchildren are a trio of spoiled and derpy cats.
