40th birthday trip -- east coast

My husband is turning 40 in May, and wanted to surprise him with a trip.  Thinking 4ish days (can go a little less or a little more depending..) We are near Philly, so driving or flying is feasible -- though I am pregnant so would not want a long flight.  I REALLY love boutique hotels or really cool (non victorian style!) bed and breakfasts-- so this would be a lure if you know of a cool one!    I could go colder or warmer as far as weather-- pretty much o pen to any suggestions!
