Can anyone fill me in on how these are established? We're trying to estimate what they will be on the new house. I've looked at the taxes on the realestate sites (like Howard Hanna) and they are just all over the board in our school district (West Allegheny). Two houses that appear to be similar can have a difference of 4 thousand dollars between their property taxes.

I have no idea what they use. Cause we just bought (2 properties) and the assessed value of the two is like 50k more tha
Of the two houses having the huge range - is the one with the lower taxes older? I ask because I know where I live, we haven't been assessed since the mid-90s. But any new builds are being assessed at the newer, higher rates.

DH said he can do it if you provide some info. he needs to know what you paid for the house/cost to construct (ie, $100k).
