I need to share this

As some of you might know from a few of my posts, my DS has some developmental delays.  I don't want to go into details, but his condition is devastating for many children who have it.  Nine months ago when we figured out that something was wrong, it was terrifying, frustrating, heartbreaking, etc.

Fast forward to now and after months of therapy, my little peanut is doing so well that he is almost on the same developmental level as other kids his age.  He just had a check-up this week and his pediatrician commented that his own sons were at the same developmental stage at the same age as my DS.

As every parent does, I have spent countless hours on the internet researching his condition and have learned that his condition can be incredibly debilitating.  In essence, we have dodged a bullet.

This Christmas/New Years, while reflecting back on the year that has been, I will be saying many thanks that, at this point at least, it appears that my little boy will be 99% healthy going forward.

That is all.  Smile

Re: I need to share this

  • That is just wonderful news!  I'm sure you must be feeling some relief.  But also remember that it is likely in no small part due to the research and work you are doing to help support him!   I'm so happy for you that what started off as devastating news has turned into something so positive.  It's amazing how thankful we are for health, once we've experienced not having full health.

Big hugs to your little boy.  Thanks for sharing your story.  What a heartwarming way to start the day Smile

  • I am so incredibly happy for you!  I can't imagine what a year it's been, and it really brings tears to my eyes to hear that after all of this, your son is going to be fine.  There is no greater gift on earth.  Lots of hugs to you and yours.
  • Ditto soprano!  I'm so glad to hear such good news, and I hope he continues to improve.  You are absolutely to be commended for researching and making sure he gets the best care.

  • That's wonderful!  An I'm sure it's a result of the hard work and dedication demonstrated by you, his doctors, his therapists, and other loved ones (not to mention the stellar genes he surely got from you).

Anyway, it's been a tough year but it's all been worth it because nothing - NOTHING - beats knowing that your child is in good health. Drinks
