Taking the summer off from daycare
DH and I were talking about having the kids take the summer off from daycare. He's in the position where he thinks there will be enough daylight hours for him to get his work done (he works outside) in the evenings when I'm home.
This would be great from a financial perspective, however, I worry that DD will get bored. She's very social and loves playing with other kids. She also really likes the preschool portion of her daycare (which I think is a lot more lax and unstructured during the summer.) And I'm sure DH would keep her occupied outside exploring our new property.
In the fall, I'm undecided about having them both go back to daycare or just finding a pre-k program for Brinley. But if I still did that, would it be strange to send Nolan to daycare a few days a week if Brinley is home?
I really like daycare from a standpoint of educational and social development, but at the same time it's such a huge expense!

I think it depends on the kids and the parent. Dd's best friend at daycare's mom is a teacher so she has summers off. She takes her dd out and she says that the last 2 years were hard. Her dd would beg her to let her go to daycare cause she missed her

All of my teacher friends take their kids out for the summer and it seems to work well. There's so much to do over the summer, I wouldn't worry about boredom! There are classes at the zoo, library story time, etc. if you're looking for some
