We just got our appraisal report and its $60,000 less then the offer we made! Here's my question, our realtor is questioning the number and is wanting to submit new comps. Why would she be wanting it to be higher? Doesn't she work for us? She's saying the bank might walk (it's a REO) if the appraisal is too low but if that's how much the house is worth, why are we fighting it? Isn't that the due diligence of the seller/bank? I'm really irritated and am not sure if this is normal!

Two reasons come to mind. 1) your realtor gets paid a % of the sales price. A lower sales price equals less commission. 2) she doesn't think the bank will come down so the deal won't go through. This means no commission and she
There is no reason your realtor should want to get the higher price. Let her know to take it back to the bank to match or you walk.
We talked to her and we are going to wait to see what the bank/seller says. I think you guys are right. She doesn't want to see the deal go south and start over but I'm not about to pay more for a house that isn't worth that. Appraisa
