Appraisal

We just got our appraisal report and its $60,000 less then the offer we made!  Here's my question, our realtor is questioning the number and is wanting to submit new comps.  Why would she be wanting it to be higher?  Doesn't she work for us?  She's saying the bank might walk (it's a REO) if the appraisal is too low but if that's how much the house is worth, why are we fighting it?  Isn't that the due diligence of the seller/bank?  I'm really irritated and am not sure if this is normal!

  • The seller can either walk or lower the price.  The only other option is you having to make up the difference to buy the house because your bank will not loan more than the appraisal.  Did your Realtor pull comps when you made your off

  • We talked to her and we are going to wait to see what the bank/seller says.  I think you guys are right.  She doesn't want to see the deal go south and start over but I'm not about to pay more for a house that isn't worth that.  Appraisa
