other IVF ladies

How and where did you dispose of your needles? I'm sure this is going to be a great search later. I can't find anyplace that will take mine.

Re: other IVF ladies

  • I assume they are in a sharps container? I'd call local hospital to see if they would take the contaienr or even your town might have a procedure.
  • I brought my sharps container to my fertility clinic and they took care of them for me.

  • You can hide them behind your radiator covers. At least that's what a prior resident of our home did with their used needles. Our contractor found them when we had our floors refinished. -True Story <img src="http://community.thenest.com/cs/emotic

  • I asked my friend that's an RN. She says: "She can put them in a empty jug like a bleach or plastic milk container and seal it up - then the local drug store might take them. People used to just drop off jugs of old insulin needles when I worked at minute

  • I bring mine back to my RE or give them to a family member who is a doctor. I've heard you can put them in a container and throw them away but I have never done that. Seems dangerous.

  • I knew I forgot something, I also tried three local pharmacies. I didn't try a CVS, they're the ones with the minute clinics, right?

  • My RE said they would take them back and so did my OB. I ended up giving them to Chop and they disposed of them for me. I can't believe your dr. won't take them.

  • I'll try the monitoring clinic I used, but once I had a confirmed pregnancy they dropped me, so I'm not optimistic. Especially after everything else.

  • how about quest labs?

    or a police station?

  • Not sure. Maybe a medical supply company that delivers insulin to your home? I assume they have many customers that ask that question so they might know who does?

  • There's a methadone clinic nearby, I'll call them tomorrow. That should be a fun and interesting trip.

  • My DH works for CVS and he said they are told to tell patients to bring to their doctor if they don't have a disposible program set up (typically diabetics will pay a fee for this). Sorry, my RE took them too. That's really frustrating, any doctors office

  • It sounds like you've made a very reasonable attempt at doing the right thing here and it might just be time to put them in your trash. According to the PA page for SafeNeedle

  • One other suggestion, did you call any of the firehouses with EMS-- like West End?  They may be able to help. Also, did you try the Community Health Foundation (at least as a resource--they can get you a name/number at the health dept and/or the ho

  • It is such a shame it is so difficult to dispose of them properly.

Another thought is many restrooms at the malls have sharps containers in the bathrooms. Not sure how many you need to dispose of,
