This is a repost from the Travel Board, but I thought I'd throw it up here too, just in case any of you have ever been to Amsterdam.
****
DH and I are spending Christmas with my MIL in Duesseldorf, Germany. It's DH's hometown and we've visited several times and we usually use it as a jumping off spot to travel to additional European spots. This year, we're spending most of the time with family, but just decided that we're doing a quick overnight, or maybe two, in Amsterdam.
Since we just decided and I've never been, we're cramming for info and advice. I'm searching the TripAdvisor boards, EuroCheapo and other Amsterdam sites, but thought I'd check here too.
Here's what we're looking for:
-We're looking for a hotel for 75-100 Euros centrally located hotel with it's own bathroom. (isn't everyone, right?)
-Must-do attractions that might not be on the major tourist lists
-Great restaurants of any kind- gourmet, traditional Dutch, ethnic, etc.
(also, fyi, we won't be visiting any coffee shops while there- it's just not our scene, and may walk through the Red Light district just to check it out, but that's about all.)
Thanks in advance, ladies!
Re: Anyone been to Amsterdam?
I WISH!!!! Can I just be you for a few trips Kelly?
You may already have it but the "Back Door series" has lots to offer. There is a section I believe in Europe through the Back Door about Amsterdam... Good luck!!!!! and of course you MUST share when you get home!!!! :-)
