Vent/ Need Advice!

So, kind of going off of my WTF post yesterday (BF is getting married, I'm her MOH and I got an invite to a shower I knew nothing about with no time at this point to get a plane ticket to actually go to it)-

We got our tax return yesterday. I wanted to go ahead and buy plane tickets for BF's wedding. I sent her 3 FB messages throughout the afternoon, saying that we wanted to buy the tickets that night, let me know when she would like me in town. I know she was getting them, because FB does that thing to let you know they've been read. She is a teacher, and has spring break this week, so I know she wasn't at work or anything. I mentioned in one of the messages that I was looking at getting into town June 8th, about a week before the wedding. So after waiting to hear back from her all evening, we went ahead and finally bought the tickets last night.

So this morning she finally responded, saying that they were planning on doing a bachelorette party on the 8th, and probably going out of town to do it.

This is the first I've heard ANYthing about a bachelorette weekend. The last I heard, she wanted to do a spa day, not do a weekend long, out of town party. Why the ever-loving ef did she not mention this to me?? A weekend out of town is just going to be yet ANOTHER expense on top of everything else. If that is what she wants to do, fine, I don't mind- But where is the common courtesy to let me know that I'll need to be spending a few hundred dollars more??

ALSO, she said she isn't planning on doing any of the decor for the reception hall or the chapel until I get into town.

....

I'd love to know what she's thinking we're going to do in a WEEK before her wedding, when it literally took me months to do the decor for my wedding.

PLUS, she made some sort of comment along the lines of she'll need plenty of time to be "pampered" before the wedding, too. Um...

How do I handle this?? I can change my flight to make it to the bachelorette thing, that's no big deal- I'm more amazed that she was so inconsiderate. But do I try to point out that there is no way to do all her decor in a week? Or just roll with it, and only do what is possible to do in that week? I get the feeling that she is planning on me doing a LOT of the decor work- And by "a LOT" I mean all. How do I say I'm happy to help, but I'm not going to be the one stressing out the week before HER wedding because I can't find what SHE wants for the decor??

Btw, for comparison- She was my MOH. Her contribution to our wedding was making some props for the photobooth (which she had about 3 months to do) and helping set up for about 2 hours (as opposed to the 8 or 9 everyone else did) the day before. But she was super helpful the day of and with packing everything up after we left the reception.

Another fun thing- Her wedding is Saturday. She's not planning on cleaning up until Monday. Wtf. I already told her that we won't be doing that.

BLARGH!!!!

Advice/ sympathy welcomed!!!!

  • Oh jeez... I send you a long distance hug because I think you need it. That is very inconsiderate and you are an amazing friend to put up with it and (mostly) smile through it. We kept our DIY to a minimum and it still took me forever and we didn't hav

  • Wow. Isn't she a peach?! I'm sorry she is being so inconsiderate of not only your time, but your money. She should have told you straight away what she was planning for the B party (kind of rude if she is planning her own party, but that's water under

I agree with everyone else on how inconsiderate she is being.

I think you should definitely call her and explain how long it will really take to make all the decor and set it up. I don't know how she could be so naive about it. But I see

  • Thank you, ladies!!!

I had totally lost sight of that my job is to just stand there.

I'll definitely talk to her (as opposed to owl- I chuckled). I seriously doubt she will be able to give me anything concrete on, well- anything. She is ver
